Need extended insurance for new 2015 Anthem?
About to pick up my new Anthem. Since Entegra has a 2 year warranty, any advice on whether to purchase an extended insurance policy? Dealers are always pushing those and say to purchase now because waiting for 2 years will make the price of the policy so much higher.

Assume you are talking about an extended warrantee...a big moneymaker, particularly for the dealer. Some buy it for peace of mind, but you won't need it for two years on the coach (five years on the chassis) and you'll have to maintain pretty good records. They sell them for 7 years, at least at the dealer...your money and decision. Some have found the tire replacement worth the small fee for that.
That said, if you wait two years you should be able to get it on the rig.
And congrats on becoming part of the Entegra family. Your warrantee and their customer service will serve you well

There is no right answer about warranty buying. If you enjoy piece of mind, it's a small expense depending on the fine print coverage. The other side of that is it is extremely profitable for the dealer. The markup is 200-300%. If you take that $3000-$7000 and invest it right you could fix nearly anything. I think the tire warranties are worth it. Ask DebbieMH.

Tire warranty is worth it. We bought the 5 year tire warranty and it paid for itself with one tire replacement. Tires are expensive on these rigs and it is not unusual to get a flat - this warranty was a good buy. Other warranties - not so much IMO.

You've got a two year warranty so I wouldn't get one yet, and certainly NOT from a dealer. When the time comes get one on your own, MUCH cheaper!!

Hi folks, congrats again on the new baby!
As said its a personal choice. In our case, we considered one at purchase time and decided against it. We don't regret that decision at all even though we have passed two years.
Consider there's 2 years plus of coverage for everything on the coach, 3 (or more?) on the chassis and 5 on the engine (not sure about the transmission). So what does a 7 year policy really buy you? What if you decide to trade up in two or there years?
Our advice would be to wait for at least the two years then re-evaluate. I suspect buying it now is not really all that much cheaper anyway.
And definitely avoid being pressured into it by the dealer, you will pay less for more if you bypass them. Even if you change your mind after passing papers, you can get a private policy weeks or months or years after your purchase date.
On the other hand a road hazard policy to cover your tires has a good chance of paying off.
I assume you have read Nina's post at Wheelingit - very excellent info there including her evaluation of underwriters. I think their general result is break even, but as I recall they didn't start off with a 2/3/5 year factory coverage.
Good luck! We are looking forward to Maine! Save us some lobsters!

I chose not to buy the dealer-based warranty. I did buy a 7 year exclusionary policy that covers just about everything. I view it as insurance if something big happens. Meanwhile I can get anything fixed for $100 deductible per visit (multiple items can be in one visit). I get peace of mind. Will my costs be covered? I don't know. But it was about 1.5% the price paid for the coach.
But think of the radiator problems discussed in this forum. Covered. Shade motors. Covered. I could go on...
If you buy this, read the fine print. Ask questions. Check out reputation. I took 3 months to make a decision, asking questions along the way.

Check with Jeff Shelton at Wholesale Warranties. I've used them on 3 coaches over the last 12 years and never had any problems with them paying on any claims. Reasonably priced if you buy before factory warranty expires.

I am also one of those that are self insured. I won on the first MH's, and broke even on the last one. A blown engine compressor cost the policy amount of $5,000. but I didn't have to ask anyone if it was OK to get it fixed.

We just bought first week of February, and passed on the extended warranty....
My logic is: "Buy the best quality that you can afford, and then "ride" with the included warranty and quality". Too early to tell if this was a wise choice. I will have a better answer in about 5 years
I might consider tires however, as the Michelin 315s are seriously priced quantities and those Michelin 295s are not far behind...

The contact # for Wholesale Warranty is 877-683-2878. They also have a good Tire and Wheel policy.
