New Aqua Hot owner

Got our new 15 Anthem about 2 weeks ago and have been trying things out before leaving for FL soon. Like the way things have heated the box and floor, much more than our previous furnaces. We have the engine preheat option. I would like to know what I have to do as far as switches, settings and such to get the AH to heat the interior with engine heat while traveling down the road. I have heard that the preheat switch can remain "off" as the engine coolant pump circulates the engine coolant anyway. I assume that the diesel and electric switches can also remain off as I want engine heat only. If this is true what do I need to do in setting the comfort control center to accomplish my goal. Can anyone walk me through this in a step by step manner? Thanks in advance for everyone's help in this regard. Hoping for a "warm" trip South.

Good question!

It's easy. Just turn the Diesel and Electric switches off, and the engine preheat switch on while on the road. This will circulate the engine coolant through the aquahot, supplying heat from the engine instead of the diesel burner or the electric element. You will be able to use hot water or heat just like normal as long as the engine is running. Our aquahot requires the engine preheat switch to be on to use engine heat. Newer models may differ. Try yours with all three switches off and see.

If you need to pre-heat the engine in cold weather, just leave the preheat, diesel and electric switches on until you start the engine.

You'll love it!

My manual tells me to shut off the engine preheat
when engine is running.
I just leave the diesel burner on when travelling
and set the thermostat.

Check your manual.

Not entirely true. All the Aqua-Hot switches are turned off when traveling and wanting to heat the coach interior. You have to set the house thermostat to the heat level you desire and the Aqua-Hot control board will do the rest. Been doing it this way for many years and it heats the coach perfectly. The Motoraide switch is only used when you want to preheat the motor. This can be used with either electric or the diesel burner on or both.

This still leaves the issue of what the comfort control needs to be set to. I think it needs to be set to HEAT-GAS(diesel) to allow me to set the thermostat to some comfortable temperature. I am then assuming that the zone will circulate calling for heat which is now being supplied by engine coolant and not GAS(diesel). Does this make sense or does anyone have settings that they know actually work?

Whichever setting your thermostat needs to be on to get heat when your running the Aqua hot on diesel, is the mode it has to be on to get heat from your engine. Different manufacturers named them differently.
On my Holiday Rambler, it's called 'Furnace' mode.

Traveling down the road all Aqua hot switches off. Set all zones to gas heat. Set zone 1 temp to about 68 F, set zone 2 to about 75F and set zone 3 to about 65F. Try this and adjust the temps to suit. Zone 1 is the blower at the front between the seats under the galley sink and another in the salon area (model specific). Zone 2 in on the same loop as zone 1 and heats the floor. Zone 3 is the blowers in the back of the coach and also the basement heat is on this same loop.
