New Nav software for Xite systems-Rand McNally GPS7720

Okay, I admit I stole this from another forum, but here's the good news. The Infotainment system on Entegra RV's is made by Xite. I like the radio integration and all, but I don't care for the Nav part of this. This article talks about how Xite systems will be offered witht the Rand McNally GPS7720 software. Hopefully an owner of an existing RV will be able to upgrade their Xite system. I know I'd pay for this now.

Will be interesting to see if the upgrade is easy and affordable for those with the old model. I have the Rand McNally 7720 and love it so far but having it integrated into the dash unit would free up top dash space for something else. Hmmmm.... Maybe I will find a place for the VMSPC iPad display after all.

I would buy which ever head unit that runs the 7720 software, as long as it is update-able.

My number 1 complaint with in dash units is how fast they get dropped.

If they do this it would be awesome.

Rand McNally 7720 software avail now for 2014 models

I talked to RiverParkInc (supplier of XSGNA2 radio for Entegras 2011-current) today. The guy I talked to said "current only 2014" model radios can choose the Rand McNally software for their coach vs the Chinese made Brand-X Nav software. He said the SIM chip will not work with older coaches. He asked my delivery date and I told him Nov2012 and he said it wouldn't work. He said he had no idea when and if the software will be modified to work on older radios.

If I was waiting for a 2014 model I'd ask about the software coming in the radio!

Hopefully they will mod the software to sell to us "old Entegra folks"

I just purchased an iPad Retina (4) for my wife. Rand McNally sells the software with the lifetime maps for the 7720 and they also have a mount that fits in the cup holder of any vehicle and it looks very sturdy. You get the full screen size of the iPad plus being able to move it to your toad when you are taking day trips. I was really interested in the chip, but I heard the same thing that has been posted here --that the 2014's will PROBABLY have it , but that there would not be a chip for the older units. After installing the software on the new iPad and putting it on both my laptop and my older iPad that I use it turned into what really works for me. Just an alternative that might have some interest for other folks.

Blessings

FlaSam,

So sorry, I reread my post and I meant to say I put it on mine and my wife's iPad. I DID NOT (can not) put it on my laptop. As the youngsters would say"My Bad".

I questioned both River Park and Jayco about this for a model 2012 unit. Jayco said 6 months and River Park gave no hope of ever being available.
If the XGS or whatever it is called did not have the backup monitor in it, I would have used it for a wheel chock long ago.

I have the xite l.v. Sd card which allows me to put in vehicle length, height, weight etc. Won't route you down a road that doesn't meet minimums. Unit seems to work fine. Shows priority lanes and exits as you approach them. Noel
