Thanks Big Tex for the clarification. Now the stainless trim that goes around the new light is it glued on?

Go to Grote federal lighting requirements, select your type of vehicle and it'll give you all the info.

That's only if you're not already in compliance. I have confirmed with Entegra compliance is compliance they don't care how as long as it meets the requirement. They don't just start drilling and replacing for the fun of it.

When a recall is completed it is recorded in the VIN database. If we get compliance with recall by ourselves, I mean no dealer nor manufacturer, how do we get our VIN cleared of the recall? I was told we can not sell with an open recall....

I was told Entegra and probably a dealer will clear it once they see you are in compliance.

I put on simple reflectors next to original lights and sent a picture to Entegra with DOT A marked on reflector and it will meet there there criteria, no Lights needed.

So, the dog has an upset tummy at 0030. I complete my canine mission of mercy and try to find something to put me back to sleep.

Why not read the law on this subject, because there isn’t anything better at knocking me out than a nice juicy CFR review.

What occurred to me is that the section talking about “Additional lamps and reflective devices.. ..30 feet and longer”

This section is just after the “Lighting” section describing the overall lighting scheme.

The paragraph in question specifies an “Intermediate” Side Marker and/or Reflective device. To be mounted at, or near the midpoint between the front and rear side marking lamps or reflective devices.

In short, it looks to this uneducated owner that there may be another device required at mid coach.

On another issue, some have mentioned the use of just 2 LEDs in the new lamp.

I examined the table specifying the illumination requirement, and for side marker lights the requirement is much less than the front and rear lamps.

Review Table IX if you want some light reading.

Oh man, I couldn’t resist.

-Matt

P.S. Here is the CFR if you’re interested..

Can someone clarify what needs to be printed on the lens to meet compliance?

Does it simply need to say DOT A, or does the P2, P3, P4 mean anything?

I’m concerned as I leave for Middlebury on Friday or Saturday and won’t make the trip if they are going to strip out the existing function.

I hate to put stickers on, but I’m seriously thinking about it.

It seems like the best solution is to find some compliant lights that look close to stock, add them to the coach (in addition to the stock lights) and splice them into the existing wiring.

Thanks,

-Matt

You have to have a device or devices that say both pa2 and DOT-SAE A. To be clear one can say pa2, like our current lights do, and the other"reflector" can say SAE A.
