New Recall 17V695

I just received the electronic notification of this recall. This affects coaches from Insignia to Cornerstone made between 2016-2018.

Evidently, this has to do with reflectors.

For new owners, don’t forget to go to NHTSA.gov and sign up for updates to your MH, and any other vehicles.

I may just be looking in the wrong place, but I don't see where the recall is described in either of these posts. What am I missing?

Gary, the best solution is to visit nhtsa.gov and punch in the recall number. Once it shows up, you should be able to view the details.

I hope this helps,

-Matt

Matt:

Being among the multitude of lazy people, I was sort of hoping that you would spare me the extra effort and copy and paste it here, or briefly describe the problem

And in my own defense, I just finished 15 minutes on the NHTSA site and found nowhere where the recall number was listed or could be found through the search engine..... Even if I entered my VIN (and I know this recall is not for my coach year), I assumed that my VIN would show the recalls that I KNOW have been issued for my coach and they did not show....maybe their whole site is "down"

HA! I have been saying this since the Classics!!! What they called marker lights should not even be DOT approved. Finally the new models get a recall. I guess the new and improved lights have no reflective value. Easy DIY plug and play to replace.

Agreed, Chuck. I wonder what Entegras solution will look like?

It's easy, good Peterbuilt style lights fit the existing holes perfect. Or simpler yet, replace the lenses with lenses that have reflection patterns molded into the plastic. Flat cheep lenses won't pass, glad NTSB finally caught it. it was long over due.

My Classic lights were so bad and dangerous, many of us didn't wait for recalls, we just upgraded and made them all turn signals as well.

I've always thought they should have turn signals on the "mid-ship" of the coaches. The new ones might but my classic does not.

Dave, there are a few posts where a few of us upgraded the lights and added more lights that all flash with the turn signals.

Chuck, this Spring that's on my list to do. I did the high work with the clearance lights, next I'll do the turn signals. Always something to do

If you own a Classic, that is the truth.

Dave,
Spartan provided the wiring for the side turn signals but Entegra did not use it till the 2016 models. Not to hard a job to add since the wiring is in the wheel well. I added those to our Aspire.
