Sounds like a good overall departure plan. On an Entegra, you need to have the motor running air-up to ride height before retracting the slides. Kind a a bummer, but that's the way it is.
Interesting. On my Travel Supreme the key has to be off for the slides to operate.

We are also new to the Entegra having just purchased an Aspire 42DEQ. Spartan sent us info and suggested the Spartan Connected Care APP. It has a Pre-Trip Inspection Checklist for the Chassis. It only covers the Chassis though. Our Aspire Guide has checklists for set up and pre departure.
