Nice campground in Savannah, Georgia?

Hello, I’m looking for the BEST campground or RV Resort to stay at while in Savannah, Georgia. Only going to be there for a few days and want to explore the area. Does anyone have any good spots they like to share? Thank you!

Tim

We love Skidaway Island State Park. A short drive southeast of center of town.

We stayed at Skidaway back in 2010. The sites are huge and all pull through I think. The 50 amp sites are marked and they ask not to use one if you do not need 50, nice! They are not paved and do not have sewer connections though. There is a dump station of course. We would stay there again.

We're going to Savannah in a couple of months didn't see a whole lot of choices near there so going to stay in Hilton Head and commute with dinghy 45 mins.

Skidaway has added sewer to a dozen or so sites. We had sewer on our last trip and that made a great campground perfect. The sites are large and most are under huge oaks.

Are they first come, first serve? The only ones that had them were CG host sites when we were there.

I think Skidaway is a good campground but quite honestly it has a lot of trees. I mean a lot of big trees. While I love trees, it isn't ver good for satellite reception if you care. The other thing is carefully review your route from the major highway to the CG. The roads twist and turn with major branches if you come in the wrong road. As for a nice family CG it is fine but we preferred to stay at Hilton ahead also and just drive into Savannah when we wanted to tour.

We are going there this weekend, beach, beer and food! First trip, looks like its going to be fun!
We don't plan on sitting in the RV and hearing the AC run...

That is where we stay, tight campground, but fun location with the beach and nice restaurants and not as far to drive. Lots of history things to see between Tybee and Savannah.

We have been to both, Skidaway if you want to hang around the MH in a nice large site. Tybee if you want things to see and places to go and just a place to park the MH. It's walking distance to seafood restaurants.

Tybee Island is nice but it is tight for a 42 or 45footer. Some sites are easy to park, others are right 15 ft from the next guy. The location is right off the beach.

I've also stayed at the Army base if you are retired mil. It was okay.
