Check it in the morning

Also this thread could be a reminder to of all of us to check the tow hookup in the morning before you drive away. Don't just assume it's all there and ok because it was last night when you pulled in. Some vandal could have pulled a pin or disconnected a cable 'just for fun'.

Really ? What would that do besides waste the Troopers and my time.

You can't be thinking that they would chase this guy down.

How’s it wasting your time?

Damn right I would. Ever been run off the road by a runaway trailer? I have. I’d rather waste your time than my life.

Cables chains

I tow a flatbed trailer with her car & a freezer on it. I have bolt on safety chains but in our state they have to be crossed under the tongue.
Every morning after I let he dog out I check all round coach & trailer. Make sure everything is still hooked up & nobody put a beer bottle or something under the tires etc. I have heard of some people pulling the bar on a 5th wheel hitch. Never had a problem but that is me. Take care & safe travels. Bruce

..and I particularly like the Herringbone Stitch.

Seriously, for those of us that use all the available safety tools, I like checking our setup after each stop, including fuel stops. You never know when a pin may fail. I remember where someone installed a snap pin backwards and it eventually worked loose.

In fact, just the other day when we were hooking up to leave Alamosa, CO., and performing our lights check, I discovered the RH toad Stop/Turn lights werenít working. Turns out the RH Stop/Turn fuse had a little corrosion and simply removing and reinstalling it solved the problem.
