Now that Winter is Upon Us.....

Hello all.... Im curious to here how owners traveling through or staying put in "COLD" areas are finding the functionality of zone 2 floor heating? Im aware of electric only issues and read all posts in this forum. Has anyone had any FREEZE FAILS? Or does the all weather aspect of Entegra do the job? We will be using ours in Freeze conditions so im more curious than anything else. I have extensive hands on experience with gravity fed spring water systems in the TN mountains. Water systems on MH's aren't to much different near as I can tell.

We left northern Minnesota December 1st. 0 degrees with 17 below wind chill. Turned on the diesel burner and set zones 1 and 3 at 60 and zone 2 at 72 along with the basement set past the middle on the slide setting. Within 12 hours it was up to temp and the floor was room temp. In 4 days it used about 5 or 6 gallons. We stayed warm while filling the coach with food, clothes and freezables. We could have stayed in it without any problem. In fact we did, the first night on the road it was 10 degrees and we were toasty warm. After the second day on the road we didn't need it anymore. By the forth day we were using a/c. We discovered our dash air doesn't work so we ran the gen and zone 1 a/c.

We've used ours a fair amount, but not extensively, in 20 degree area temperatures. The coach was warm and toasty. Things to watch out for with Zone 2 (your question?):
1) Lots of people find a kink in the hose under the passenger slideout, preventing Zones 1 and 2 from working properly. Take out the bottom cutlery drawer and wiggle the hoses. It usually works. Ours needed the wiggle treatment only once. We'll get a permanent fix in the Spring.
2) It takes a long time for the tiles to heat up - many hours. We think it is enhanced by heating up the basement too (you have to anyways).
3) The tile heat is not entirely uniform, but still very welcome.
4) In our opinion, don't bother using electric to heat Zone 2 if it is near or under freezing outside.

Not a Zone 2 comment, but when below freezing we keep all our hoses inside the coach unless we need to fill water or dump tanks.

We've spent several single digit nights in our coach with no problems. Zone two on gas heat and set to 75, fireplace going and a electric space heater in the bed room. Zone 1 and 3 furnace never used and it was still cozy warm inside. A bit chilly near the windows though.

People thought we where nuts having the coach out, but it was kind of fun in the snow and cold. Not fun enough to make us stay in Minnesota though....heading SW 1/1 😀

We had intended to take our coach to Florida before it got too cold but life has a way of getting in the way. The result was we had to leave the coach in Hickory and we had several nights of teens and one of 10. The coach was on 55 and the basement was on maximum. All was fine.

I wouldn't want to test the systems if I didn't have to but they worked fine this time.

We are in ours full time and saw 19 this am and have camped into 11 degree nights. No issues as all. We are using a good bit of propane, but works like a champ. By far the best insulated coach we've ever had.

Flora and I were at the factory this past January and it was 7 degrees below zero with a brisk wind. We had no issues at all - stayed nice and warm and left for Florida just before the big storm in Atlanta.
