Oregon back home to North Carolina
We will start heading home on 18 August.
Have about two weeks to travel the distance.
First stop is Yellowstone. Never been there before.
Where would be the best place to camp out with the coach while experiencing the park with the family for a few days?
Curt

Curt, Grizzly Rv park @ the west entrance is excellent. A very short distance to enter Yellowstone Park. Also a great grizzly & wolf exhibition by the rv park that is enjoyable.. Have fun, safe travels. Danny

yep, Grizzly...hope you can get in this late. Also, Coulter Bay Village in the Grand Titons is a nice park. Further West, stop at Ellsworth AFB for an inexpensive stop to enjoy Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park (bison herds and great scenery), and Badlands. You will get the "sound of freedom" with a couple B-1 sorties a day, but they are pretty neat to watch.

Depending on your route back, you may want to go to Bryce Canyon, Arches NP, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, and other places.
Have a great trip home.
Ted

Ted, exiting the east end of Yellowstone is a white knuckle, heart pounding, sweat poring 6miles or so. I did it a few years back and it was the worst drive I ever encountered. Mountain on the left and 500 foot cliff on the right. Felt like my right tires were on the edge the whole time. Passing oncoming cars were pulling as close to the mountain as they could just to let me squeeze by. Exit anywhere except to the east

While you are up in that part of the country you have to drive through Badlands National Park. Breath taking views and an easy drive in the rig. We did it early so there was no traffic. Might get a bit tricky with tons of traffic.

We stayed at Ponderosa Park in Cody. Very nice. friendly, reasonable and close to all the happenings in Cody. No problem with the RV thru Yellowstone although we went West and South. The really nasty road was Teton Pass from Jackson Hole. It is quite curvy and hilly (10 percent grades). Max speed climbing was about 25 to 30MPH towing the CRV. No problem just take your time and enjoy the sights. John

X3 We just left Grizzly last week. A great park and The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Pat. She will get you a site if at all possible.
You can do each loop in Yellowstone in a day from Grizzly. You won't see everything, but then you won't see everything if you stay a month. Upper and lower falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is very scenic.
We left by the South entrance and went through Riverton and Thermopolis to Buffalo Wy. very scenic drive especially the Powder river canyon through Boysen state park and Ten Sleep just East of Thermopolis.
You'll enjoy Yellowstone! Noel

Curt, if you all want Primitive camping with 50 amp/water/sewage stay in the middle of Yellowstone. No Wifi, no cell service but you are in the middle of northern Yellowstone. Look up and call Fishing Bridge, it is really cool we stayed there and found it too primitive and went to Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT

Kind of hard to get a 45 ft with a trailer in there. That is a very old park and tight. I stayed there when I was a kid 60 years ago. Stopped by a couple of years ago and it was still tight, but a great location. I still remembered the store from when I stayed there as a kid.
