Our Decision

Some of you have followed our tortured posts of what we should buy. We were 99% sold on Entegra, especially after test driving. No false advertising. Quiet and smooth! Then we looked at used Newells. The fantasy was better than the reality for us after looking at 10 year old units. They are fantastic. But unless you find one that's been remodeled, the are dated albeit built like tanks. The thing that kept me up at night was thinking of repairs and maintenance costs. Too uncertain for us newbies. In the end, we've caved to common sense and practicality. We purchased a new leftover 2015 Tiffin Phaeton hidden away on a Montana dealer lot in Winter. Model is a 40AH, all electric, dishwasher, etc

This is our first rig and we have a lot to learn about the lifestyle. We figured it best we tone down our aspirations till we get some experience under our belts. It was a great buy. No Entegra, but it's contemporary and we love the layout. Our house is on the market and we are ready! We are in Montana this week staying in Big Timber outside of Billings. Brrrr! But toasty inside with heated floors, fireplace and Aqua Hot 450D.

I've learned so much from the Entegra forum. Thanks all. I imagine one of these days we will thrown down another chunk of change as we "upgrade"! For now, we're good.

Congratulation on the new home. Enjoy every bit if what RV'ing has to offer no matter what manufacture you chose. Hope you still stop by the Entegra forum and say hi once in awhile. We all share the same RV parks.

Congratulations ! Totally understand your reasoning and absolutely nothing wrong with your decision as a Tiffin Phaeton is a very nice motorhome and way better then our first Class A which was a 1986 Holiday Rambler Alumalite.

Look forward to your adventures and make sure you go to the TRVN forum for everything Tiffin.

ENJOY !

We had a 2014 Tiffin Phaeton before the Anthem. It was a great rig, no major problems and we enjoyed it for 18 months. You made a good choice, enjoy and safe travels.

You were right to worry about repairs and expense, and I believe you made the right decision. We have seen a LOT of Phaetons on the road in this current trip out west. Very popular rig.

Have fun..... get to know what you are going to learn, and hope that you find it a great experience. We have..... hope you do too.

Absolutely nothing wrong with changing your mind and getting something else that suits your wants/needs!
I wanted a King Aire but found a gorgeous CC Magna that we bought. Do wish we had bought a service policy though.

The Phaeton's not a bad choice. It seems that most first time buyers don't keep their first coach all that long anyway. It's a learning experience. The Phaeton is a popular coach so when it's time to upgrade you won't have any problems trading or selling it. Just enjoy the lifestyle and learn what you like and don't like and you'll be well equipped to choose your next coach. It's pretty hard to hit the nail on the head the first time around. We bought our first coach with the intention of keeping it at least 10 years. After 18 months we traded . Your Phaeton will serve you well and is a good choice for a first coach.

Since you're selling your house and going full time, and you're ALREADY in Montana, I certainly hoped you looked into the "Montana LLC" for purchasing and licensing your new coach! The key is full timing it, and not owning, or in the process of selling a brick and mortar . . . .check into it, you can save a whole lot of money!
