To utilize base RV parks one must have a DOD affiliation. Military (active and retired) or DOD employees. Many bases will allow an authorized patron to bring in a second rig as a guest. Generally not fancy parks, but normally clean and much less money than the same spot outside the gate.

I don't recall Kirkland reservation policies, but check and do it as far in advance as possible. recognize that Kirkland is South side of ABQ and the fest is extreme North side...during balloon week you'll find traffic terrible. My recommendation...one of the balloon parks...a year in advance. Don't expect a lot of amenities.

Kirtland AFB says they do not accept reservations. They do have 72 full hookup sites.
