Outside Step Motor

I have a dead spot in my outside step motor. the part number is 163669. I am seeing a 1636669 advertised on ebay and amazon. The ones advertised are substantially less in cost. I am being told it is the same. Has anyone used one on a 2015 cornerstone?

This is $46.00 and shows as an exchange, big difference in cost than the Lippert.

Go for it, the motors are not that big of a deal. Lippert is just marking them up.

What are the symptoms of a dead spot? Does it stop in the same location every time?

Ours would not go out, it shut down in the "in" position. After I44 east bound it worked a few times. It stopped working again until it was hit with a hammer by a tech.

Nathen, lube all the pivot points of the steps and see if it will free up. I use spray silicone, but others use many other lubricants.

Chuck, We have been doing that, we are sure at this point it is the motor. I am going to buy the one on ebay. The Coach is at S&S for some painting touch ups. I just had Paul Conley install under the slide lights on the drivers side slides. He said he would swap it out for me when I pick up the coach. His new shop is right across from S&S.

Paul's the best IMHO.

S&S burnt out my step motor stepping on the steps before they were completely out. At least it was during the PDI and I didn't have to replace the motor.

The motors are easy to replace and not worth messing with if you have already lubed the steps.

Mine need frequent cleaning & lube. I live in a dusty environment and lots of dirt & gunk accumulates. If I slack off, the steps will hang a bit on the way out. As soon as that happens I get back on it and clean & lube (either Fluid Film or Boeshield T-9). I do this routine every 1-2 mos. In my opinion the drawer slides used on my steps (2015) are under-engineered. I think Entegra rectified this in later years Cornerstones.

Our CS steps stopped closing all the way at Spartan so we thought the tech had stepped on it before it was all the way out. We asked him and he said NO...he had made that mistake before and does indeed wait until the step is fully deployed. So we sprayed it and lubed it again from just the outside and what we could see. It helped and the steps fully retracted for about a day. Ended up removing the bottom step at a truck stop on the way back to PA so that we didn't clip it on a toll booth in OH. After getting back home and crawling under the steps, I realized that the hang up was a finely packed white powder on the inside set of tracks. It looked like concrete powder that had some how hardened again. So once again...pulled the generator, slid up underneath, had the steps out and went to work on cleaning the inner tracks. It took a can or so of WD40 and then some lube to clean the tracks completely but now they work as they should. The point of this is, if you don't crawl underneath and clean the inner tracks, all the lube and pressure washing from the street side will never get the inner crud off the tracks. In fact, it might even help pack the crud in the back end..!

Agree-way under engineered. Ours fell apart. New style not much better. Have to constantly lube them to keep them working. My opinion-just put in a little bigger motor that can overcome a little dust and dirt. Power window motor just doesn't have enough torque.

Those new wide steps on the newer Newmars are very, very nice. Entegra should take notice.
