Paint Peeling

Today I noticed the paint peeling off the driver side rear cap molding. I read the post where the rear cap separating however, I did not notice any separation. I have an appointment in Middlebury in April 16 but I don't think I'll be able to wait that long having to look at that every day and watch it get worse!

Has anyone had this problem? I've already sent the photos to Entegra service today. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon.

Thanks

That is not a big problem. They will replace it likely with a newly painted piece and it will not spread beyond the trim. I did have that on a prior Entegra and it had to do with the silicone sealant and an improper prep at the paint shop. All JMHO

Some have a bad habit of losing their paint at the edge. Shouldn't hurt till April as it is fiberglass; S&S can fix it and do a good job up at Middlebury, no problem. Like Gene said. I have it in a couple places on the CS.

UHG! Silicone contamination, a painters worse nightmare. If Entegra is truly using silicone to mount the rear cap, they should switch over to a "body shop friendly" product that will not contaminate the surface for paint adhesion. There are plenty of products available for the auto and truck market.

With the number of paint repairs in this area, I can't believe it is cost effective to keep using a silicone based product.

They have switched, but there are several of us with classic coaches that will be or have been in for paint repair. Too bad Entegra did not know that silicone and paint do not mix a few years ago. My coach really does look like a classic before restoration.

X2
I would live with it until Middlebury. They will do an excellent repair - no harm done. I had the same thing in another area of the coach.

Well...at the time of "classic" Entegras precision Painting did the pint job, and they darn sure should have known...the first one that came in for warrantee paint, they should have been raising the double matchsticks word. I continue to lose confidence in Precision.

I was in the middle as they argued back and forth for months who was at fault. In the meantime several have to have paint repairs.

I agree with Precision going to pot. They painted my TS and it was flawless. They also painted my Entegra....... it was so bad I refused delivery.

Probably a labor issue. Not many want to do this type of work any more much less be good at it unless it pays really well. I wouldn't want to be painting these behemoths. Maybe 35 years ago.

I prefer smaller projects now days.

It is their core business. Mods and painting old coaches is just a side. JMHO, they are trying to earn their way out of Entegras business.
