RIP Bob...... !!
Bob was a flight surgeon in the service for many years. After leaving the service, he was a traveling physician, living in his Cornerstone in various cities in western Texas and reviewing files and endorsing medical treatments. I first became aware of Hawgguy here on the forum and his posts were always helpful and insightful. Because of his location out in West Texas, he was largely required to do many of his repairs himself and so became expert at a number of repairs that many of us encountered. His help and willingness to share his experience and knowledge was very appreciated by me and many others.
I got to meet him at an Entegra rally in Kerrville about 3 years ago, and we maintained some correspondence. He introduced me to his late high school / college aged son and his very precocious middle school daughter and his wife (HawgGirl) during that rally and we had a number of long talks where he helped me with some coach problems. He spent his days reviewing electronic hospital records and patient files, but made his presence known at the important owner meetings.
As a career academic, I was really happy to see that he had taken a job on the medical school faculty a little over a year ago and was for the first time in a while, able to establish a home base where he lived and made a contribution to young medical students at the Texas A&M Medical School. He was personable, approachable, intelligent, skilled, and willing to help. Can't do much better than that for a med school faculty member!
What a tragic end to his life. He leaves a massive hole for his young family. In some ways, if you have to die early, there is a small blessing in that the process was relatively short. In his case, it was very short from learning of his advanced condition until his death.
He will be missed on this forum and in life. Rest in peace Bob. I will miss you and your contributions.
Gary
