Preparing for an Upgrade
We plan to upgrade our 14 Aspire for a new 2016 Anthem at some point next year.
In anticipation for that event I have (yesterday) placed my coach in the classified section on this site, in RV Trader (last week) and on EBay (last week).
I have received a number of calls from RV brokers that indicate the coach is priced about right for a private sale, but too high for any broker.
Anyone have experience selling a 12 month old Entegra?
Can you share some lessons learned?
Curt

Curt, talk with Chuck, (Brobox), he has recent experience selling his coach and really helped me. Neither were a year old but the basics still apply. There are scammers and vultures out there that just wait for the next new listing and try and con the seller. Keep your guard up and speak with Chuck for advice. I wouldn't use a broker or dealer.

Perfect statement. You are reaching the buyers you want. If you wanted a broker you would have given it to a broker. It's you that wants the money to put toward the new Anthem, not give it to a broker. If it is in excellent shape, I would list it at high NADA book and sell between middle and high....if other ads are in that price range. Most ads, especially dealers are out in left field with what they are asking in the ads. Buyers will NOT pay more than book, nor will a bank make the loan. I stood firm on my price because of condition and had a bidding war at the end.
I found RV Trader to have the best responses 10 to 1. Do take the mega picture options. A picture is worth a 1,000 words, the more picture, the better the calls. I had people call on the pictures and price only. I know they didn't read the ad as the questioned they asked where printed in large capitol letters.
DO NOT listen to all of the other calls you will get to list with them. RV Trader was the only money I really needed to spend. To keep everybody honest tell any buyers the terms are bank transfer only. No phoney cashiers checks from Nigeria, no Paypal, etc.
Just looked at your ad and NADA. You are priced to sell and won't need to move off of your price at all. Middle NADA price is $266,700. You are priced at below low book. Might want to raise the price. http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/2014/E...6532235/Values
I could only find one exterior picture in the RV Trader ad...not good people will think it has pet damage and won't call.

All good points. As the admin for Tiffin RV Network Classified, I can relate that pictures do contribute greatly towards selling your coach. Mine sold within 24 hours. We've had good success with those ads but only those that had lots of photos and were priced right. By the way, you can place an ad there if you want.

Thanks Gentlemen, I will work on getting some nice photos added to RV Trader today.
Life is exciting -- I wouldn't miss a day of it.

I agree with chuck, the only thing you need is RV Trader.com But also use any free ads you can get and ANSWER every inquiry, no matter how simple and tire kicking it sounds, you never know which one will be the one. I just sold a 2011 Tiffin diesel pusher and RV Trader provided tons of leads, sold in about three weeks for full asking price (just above low NADA). Take the most expensive ad they offer AND STAGE the coach for pictures. By that I mean get ALL the stuff out of the picture, make sure they are bright and clear and show lots of both inside and outside pictures to show no damage and to highlight all those great Entegra extras. With the shortage of Entegras on the market you would likely have no problem getting at least middle NADA and maybe high. Do not get overly anxious, some will talk a good game but you will never hear from them again but then, bam, out of the blue someone will come, look, talk, buy and drive off into the sunset. It must be clean and ready to show at all times with plenty of fuel. Exercise the generator, water system, AC and heat etc regularly to make sure everything is in working order. IF something is not working right, GET IT FIXED ASAP, just about no matter the cost if you want to sell it, it has to work. All common sense but I have sold six RVs over the years and used the above formula, it has always worked well. Good luck and keep us informed on you progress with the sale AND with what you are selecting for a replacement.

Right on Gene! Especially the price. I would hate to see Curt sell it below market.
Curt, I raised my price a week after it was on RV Trader. I had it priced to low and had lowball purchasers in the $50,000. price range calling. I raised the price $5,000 and got rid of those. The mid 60 range buyers were much more serious.

You two gentlemen certainly have some great experience in private sales of your RVs, but I am a bit confused by your recommendations for price in this instance. Middle to high NADA for a used 2014 Aspire would be in the neighbourhood of $275K. (Low-$242 / High-$292)
MHSRV currently has 34 - 2015 Aspires in stock and plenty of 44U. The MSRP on these units is $379K and you can have -25% without even asking......so assuming a bit of bargaining and you drive off the lot at (-30%) $265k.
As an "all-cash" buyer .....as a buyer without a trade....as a buyer prepared to accept the "private sale risks" (as-is / buyer beware) ....limited time left on Mnft. warranty....12-24 months of use and 15K miles....I would be looking for a depreciation (used) discount of around 20% off the new out-the-door 2015 price of $265k. This would make me a buyer at around $210K.
I am not suggesting Curt list it at $210K, but I am suggesting that getting even Low NADA at $242K will require something "special". What am I missing?

I will be in buyer mode, soon, and will focus on private sellers. What Chuck is saying rings true to me.
For the rig I will buy, the bottom line for me is verifiable condition, hopefully with an historical log with receipts vs mileage and time (especially for a diesel time, down time is an issue)....then later when I come to visit and get a mechanic to do his thing, etc.
If the rig is in great verifiable condition, the seller has their fair price middle of NADA range from me, without haggle, cash transfer, with reasonable time for me to verify on site (probably a week or so to do the extensive due diligence on an rv. )
No water damage, no unreasonable rust, DOT tire date ready to drive tires.
No need to negotiate, no need to play games...just two reasonable people that understand what is being sold/purchased, no emotional/drama stuff.

Jack, your thinking is exactly like mine, except we're looking at Newmars. Seems like with the newer units the seller "forgets" to factor in the discount off MSRP that you can get. Some have even been priced higher than a new unit after that discount and I might as well buy a new rig.

Note: Don't leave red flags for the buyer...broken this, scraped that, smelly that...consistency...if the rig truly is in excellent condition and you have that excellent condition mentality.

Part of my process would also be to verify NDA (verify everything), so
My internet NADA says MSRP was $374. Low Retail, 242, Average 291.
$374 less 30% = $262 if you can buy for that discount. So, yep, the typical mid NADA would stop me in my tracks...something is wrong....too quick a sale for the NADA to catch up, which means the next revised NADA, the range will drop big time due to depn???
That would mean onto another buying opportunity unless we factored in first year depn into the price in addition to the discount???

Jack, nothing wrong with your analogy. I had a few that had the same analogy, however they did not purchase my MH. I think Curt will get a few from this forum that have recently sold that will PM him with what the going market current is for a newer Entegra. Low offers was the reason I raised my price and wound up selling at listed price in 3 weeks.
I sold my last MH at high book with three cash buyers trying to out bid each other. I took the one that could have his funds transferred in 24 hours.
