Problem Getting Paint Clean

Got back from our last trip where we drove close to a 1,000 miles in rain or wet roads, so coach has a lot road grim on it.

Been trying to clean it with foam cannon and the pink stuff from chemical guys.

Always worked well, but this time there is a grime that just won't clean off. The soap will lift it and move it around but it doesn't come off.

Using a microfiber cloth with the soap gets just a little more off but leaves serious streaks. It streaks like it is an oil but then it dries and won't move around with your finger.

Any suggestions on getting whatever this is off?

First picture below is "normal" but didn't show the streaks nearly as well as I see them in person.

Second picture I adjusted the picture contrast to show the streaks better, but they are not that bad. So in reality the streak visibility is between the two pictures.

BTW, these are after multiple attempts to clean this section.

Steve, I use a foam cannon to blast soap onto the coach. I used the Chemical Guys soap until it was gone, now I use McGuire’s car wash soap.

Next, I use a pure Lambs Wool wash mitt on the end of a long adjustable length pole to work the coach clean in sections.

I then rinse with my home baked DI system and squeegee and towel dry.

Touchless it’s not.

Scratchless it is.

I bought a McKees kit that included a foam canon, foaming soap and spray wax. Left a lot of streaks even after hand washing and lots of rinsing. Then I tried the foam canon with McGuires Wash N Wax. Better but still streaky. Tried the McKees spray wax, it left a nice finish but it only lasts two months and I didn't want to have to redo it that often on a 45', 13" high MH. Next I tried Aero Wax, very streaky even after three coats.
Then I got my 10+ year old Dry Wash N Guard out. One try removed all the streaks left by all the others, plus it lasts at least a year even out in the weather. I have no monetary interest in DWG anymore but nothing I've tried comes close to it.

I am also a McGuires wash n wax and Blue Coral fan. I just don't see the higher priced detailing soaps doing any better of a job. Both Walmart soaps work well in the soap canon.

Matt that is almost exactly my process, except I gave up my DIY DI and went to a CR. Though I don't hand dry.

Thanks everyone for suggestions.

I tried more things today without much success. Actually I went backward with some scratches. Knew better but got frustrated and tired. Bad combination when trying to clean paint.

I guess it's time to forget trying to save the wax and strip it down and re-wax or try some M21 that people are talking about.

I use this stuff too I do knock off the big stuff first; especially after driving in the rain.

Id get more aggressive with my soap...assuming it is a DEGREASER...!

You may have to go to a DAWN strength degreaser. You might sacrifice wax (If you have any left), but you’ll get the oil off!

You can always wax it again after you get the grease off!

Yes, dawn is where I'm at.

I've tried just about everything I can think of short of using something that will strip the wax off as well.

I got this product at the Tampa show and have been using it since then with good results.
We're full time also....carry a small Ryobi pressure washer and a DI unit but as you said, parks that allow washing are getting few and far between.

True, but a full tank of soft water, a rest area and the Ryobi will wash, rinse and DI the MH with about a 1/4 tank left. Do need a finer spay nozzle for the DI rinse than what the Ryobi comes with.

I kinda do what Brobox espouses except, I don't use softened water. Every time I hit a campground, I check their water for Dissolved Solids. When I find a good one, I fill up and then use it for washing when necessary. Found some water in Texas (really!) that was 64 PPM. Right now, I'm at Spartan College. Water here is pushing 600
