Propane Refill

I have a 2013 Aspire and will need to refill the propane tank soon. I'd like to do it myself and am looking for any info I can get.

I’m assuming you mean the onboard propane tank installed on most motorhome units, and not the 20 lb cylinders that most people have on their BBQ.

You can’t refill them yourself.

Find a propane filling center that is equipped and licensed. Sometimes, U-Haul locations are where you need to go.

Your profile lists nothing. Where you are could give some the ability to help you locally. You need to drive it to a refill station. Youll find them at some Gas stations, Farm stores etc (big white tank out front or on property somewhere) . park beside it and go in and ask for someone to pump propane. You can in some parks have it filled on location by a mobile truck and some parks have propane filling stations on property. As noted , you cant fill it yourself like you pump gas at the pump.

In my area Tractor Supply has the best price, $2.69 a gallon, U Haul the highest at $3.99 a gallon. LP is priced regionally, it is much less up north than FL.

Propane is pumped in liquid form thru a FILL Valve with the 'bleeder valve' (fixed liquid level indicator) until liquid spurts out, Then bleeder valve is closed, pump is secured and line pressure is bleed off.

So if you have a Large bulk propane tank with delivery system, pump, meter, hoses, nozzles, gloves, eye protection and TRAINING you to could fill your own tank'

Otherwise...off to the propane vendor to get tank refilled

Here in FL U-Haul has to photograph the tanks expiration dated and condition before they will fill the tank. LP is getting regulated heavy in my area.

A lot of the parks I stay have a LP refilling station in them. Last winter we stay at “The Vineyards” campground in Grapevine TX for the winter. They had a LP vendor that would service your rig in your spot every Saturday. I normally fill mine in the campground to reduce the hassle factor. One tank normally last me spring all the way thru the end of fall and we spend a minimum of 6 months a year in the coach.

Many of the RV parks also sell propane - may be a little more expensive, but convenient. I fill mine at a park close to my storage when necessary, and their price is not too bad.

You can do it yourself with the proper setup. Used to be very common in rural farming areas. If you have a 500-1000 gal tank providing LP to your home it needs to be drained and add a bottom tap to get liquid LP and a pump added to fill your tank.
Probably not very practical or cost effective!
I'm probably missing several safety items that would be required now days.

The Allstays app shows where LP is available.

I can fill them from my house tank with a wet line. I do not have a pump, but it does take longer without one.

I have seen several "Trained & Certified" propane filling people make some really stupid mistakes. Once a mistake cost an employee his finger tip when it froze in a propane leak.

For the cost, I take my coach to Tractor Supply for the best prices and ease of getting into and out of the fill area.

There is NO expiration date on propane TANKS!

Potable CYLINDERS have a re-certification requirement 12 yrs after date of manufacture....not expiration but re-certification

We were always able to get propane delivery when we had our older Aspire. Because you have a horizontally mounted fixed residential style tank it can be serviced by a delivery truck. Same license in most states as home delivery to a fixed tank.
