That depends on the toad. My Jeep liberty ate tires and brakes being towed.
My Tacoma has 20,000 towed miles and 38,000 driven miles. I just change the factory installed tires. The brakes still look new. I cannot see any signs of additional wear on the Tacoma. I also use a drive shaft disconnect. The Liberty did show wear of being towed.

We also have a 12 MB E 350 convertable that we put in a 24' vnose car hauler. There are are disadvantages and their are advantages to trailering .It all boils down to what you are comfortable doing.

Back in graduate school during the relatively quiet summer months, I used to drive tractor trailers for North American and LTL freight haulers so I am very familiar with driving very long rigs. Even pulled 2 40s in a train on interstates. Although I find the rigs plus massive stackers impressive to look at, I am really impressed with how many places I would never have gone with that rig, the places where I have gone that storing that trailer would have been impossible, the right turns that would have taken a semi's approach (waiting for all the cars to clear out of a lane to let me turn), the weight of a huge trailer when trying to connect or disconnect, the number and length of pull through needed.
As others have said, it depends on what you have to have to be able to do what you want to do. The relative scarcity of big trailers behind big coaches tells me that many people have decided that less is more and all that is needed.

You have to decide what kind of lifestyle you will be living and then plan accordinly. If you are traveling every day pulling a trailer could be annoying. If you travel and park then a trailer is not too bad. Most RV parks have an overflow area for trailers.
We decided to pull a trailer. Our toys are inside, out of the debris and sight. We also carry other amentities with us like a smoker and full size grill.
What ever choice you make it will not fit all of the circumstances you will encounter. Just predict as best you can what you plan to do and outfit yourself accordingly.

The truck is used when we don't need all the toys or if parking is questionable.

Nice to have those options. Good looking rig either way.
We get three motorcycles (2 on 2, 1 on 3) plus the SUV in our stacker. If we do not want all of the motorcycles and SUV we tow a 12' Wells Cargo with the trike.

I, too, ordered my V-nose car hauler trailer from Freedom Trailers. I did the same, told Freedom I was pulling behind a motorhome and they took care of the rest. They extended the tongue another 18" on the 5ft triple V-nose. Pulls great and no issues on tight turns.

Without asking too much of a personal question but how much does one of those Freedom V trailers sell for (without customization)?
I enjoy towing my vehicle with a towbar, especially after I arrive at a site where parking is an issue but I do see advantages of a trailer like; a portable garage, less damage to vehicles, less mileage on toad, any toad you want, you can back up if needed, the ability to carry several toys.

Hogdriver I purchased a 28ft V Nose with a 4 ft ramp in the V in addition to the regular side door and the rear ramp. I added Aluminum rims and a spare with a matching Aluminum Rim and the extended tongue, it was $6800.00
I Thought I added the escape door to allow me to get in an out of the car but the salesman missed it when we spoke over the phone and I didn't verify the order as I should have.
Luckily I have two cars with lift gates so I can climb in and out the back.
I Installed Etrack after I got the trailer to make tie down easier. They wanted $10.00 per foot for etrack. I bought 150 ft of it for $3.00 per foot and spent a day Installing it.

I have a question for those of you towing car hauler trailers. How do you deal with the overall length of your rig and the tow vehicle and the law? I have a friend who just bought a 40' coach and a 24' car hauler. The total rig measures out at nearly 72'. It is my understanding that the regulations for overall length are generally 65'. Have any of you who have these longer combinations had any issues with the authorities?

I'm 75' long, have never had a problem with the law.....and can always back out of a tight spot if needed. Depends on where we are going if we take all the toys or not.
