Pump on when on city water

Pardon me if this has been asked and answered. A quick search didn't help.

We're connected to city water but the water pressure is low. I've changed filters, etc. as mentioned, but it's simply that the available water pressure is a bit low.

Can I run the pump at the same time that I'm on city water? It seems to work. What are the implications? Is the pump running off of the tank? If that's the case then I assume, if I'm on the pump I'm not actually drawing water from the city side and an instead just draining my fresh water tank.

Thank you for any guidance.

No problem running pump while connected to low pressure CG water.

Just watch your water tank level because, yes, your pump always draws from your fresh water tank, and you’ll need to refill tank depending on usage.

The combination often provides much needed pressure to give you a great shower

Not familiar with your rig but in general, there is usually a check valve to prevent backflow in to "city water" systems. So, if you are running your pump because of low city water pressure, and assuming your pump pressure is higher that city water, you are pumping from your fresh water tank......in other words, you are not getting a "combined effect" of using both sources...

On my Classic, with low campground water pressure, the pump will not boost the water pressure. When connecting the hose and the pressure at the hose bib is only 30 or 40 PSI, we use the fresh water tank. I changed the water pump to a Shurflo 4048 that has 55 PSI and use that instead of 30 from the campground.

We've done that too...

but have you removed your shower heads low flow "bottleneck"
https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...low+restrictor

and do you use the old style pressure regulator that reduces pressure AND flow ?

You may try bypassing the hose reel the hose could be smashed and causing low water flow. I had to unreel mine and put water to it and reel it back up to get water flow.

I wonder why ours works differently? It definitely increases my water pressure. Must have some sort of extra valve in the line that I’m not aware of ( or smart enough to figure out)

No apologies needed, it is a valid question.
On our coach even if I have "city water" available..I just fill the fresh tank and run off it.... just in case "poo poo" happens. (broken coach water lines or some other coach plumbing failure)

I have seen a couple of times when neighbors are hooked to city water, leave for shopping or whatever and when they returned ...RV was flooded.

Rick
Classic vs new model? Anthem vs Cornerstone? Mine did not increase the pressure so I upgraded to a better pump which the new models now have.

I still use the tank for increased pressure turning the city water off. The 4048 helped but not what I expected.

Did you put a pressure gauge on your outside water bib and if so what was the PSI? Removing water restrictors from shower head and faucets can have a negative effect on your hot water supply from Aqua hot. Aqua Hot is only rate to product a specific GPM. If it were me I would fill up my fresh water tank and use the onboard pump. As stated you can turn the pump at the same time you are connected to city water but for the pump to turn on your pressure will need to be very low. I would also be looking for different park.
