Real world Fuel and Def useage

I should say these numbers are based on a 2017 Cornerstone that traveled to 6 states in 3 weeks and lots of highway driving at 70-80 mph. (Yes the speed limit is 80 in Wyoming and Utah.)
2326 miles
393.68 Fuel / 5.90 MPG ( includes generator useage on the road and aqua hot when parked.
15.9 Def/ 146.28 MPG ( those green lights disappear around 500 miles)
Total Fuel cost $1093.03 = $2.78 per gallon
Cost per mile Fuel only $.47

Now that I have passed the 10,000 mile mark, I should do better, in fact when I took delivery my Spartan gage showed 5.8, it got to 6.1 mpg now.

Going up hills you can take the left lane and pass the big trucks which I did!

What tow vehicle were you towing?
To see the weight behind your Coach?
That determines a good portion of your mileage..
I just drove 370 miles back from San Diego towing nothing and my Spartan computers clocked me at 8.4 mpg .. when I topped off my tank and put a calculator to the mileage to fuel gallons I got like 7.6
So not sure how accurate that computer is..I have the 450 not 600 although..
seems when pulling my 4 door jeep it's in the low 7 range
Gotta love that 80 speed limit in Utah ....

By the way. No generator or Aqua hot use was being used on my calculations

Fuel usage

On my last trip last month, we went to Nashville area, then on to Indialantic Florida and back to our home in the suburban Chicago area.

Something over 3000K miles - believe it or not our fuel average was 10.4 miles per gallon - wasn't towing anything. Ran the Onan 7500 the entire time except when we were parked at my daughters home in Gallatin Tennessee (suburb of Nashville) or at the ORA in Indialantic (Melbourne Beach Fl ).

Diesel fuel prices were all over board but the overall fuel usage, I thought, was great.

I flat tow a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel that weighs 5,400 pounds. Don't notice it and look in camera to make sure it's still there!

Now that I have 20,000 miles on the coach, it's doing better on fuel.

On my last trip while pulling a 9000lb toad, and maintaining 68 mph I can keep around 8-8.2 mpg by the computer. I haven't hand figured it, but I'm guessing around 7.5 actual or a little better. I do run the generator when it's hot.

When I was pulling the Silverado I never felt it but the Ram is MUCH heavier and it really holds me back from a start. Going down the highway I don't feel it at all.

Real world Fuel and Def useage

Just got home from a 5700 mile summer trip of 90 days. Used Aqua Hot a lot and generator some but not a lot. Drive with jake on high and cruise set about 64-65. Now have over 23000 miles on my 2016 Cornerstone and averaged just over 8 for the trip. Mileage has improved from low 7 in the last 6-8000 miles. Just my experience.

My fuel/operating costs over 11 states and 4800 miles during April to July road trip were virtually identical on our 2017 Cornerstone; 45-47 cents per gallon, including Aqua-hot and genny operation.

24 k miles, 6.8 MPG does not matter toad no toad. Genny most of the time. Maybe a little better if my wife drives. In the big scheme of things, the fuel cost is peanuts, I don't bother tracking and rely on the computer.

Wow! I want to pay 45-47 cents per gallon.....I wouldn't even track fuel economy.

OK......I know you meant cents per mile.

The DEF usage is always going to relate to the amount of fuel used. If you think of it like pre-mixing fuel for a two stroke engine you would be running about 25:1 ratio for fuel to DEF. Our 450 ISL runs about the same ratio....as it should to clean up the emissions and match the chemistry in the catalyst. In fact, I would be the ratio is the same for any diesel running an SCR and DEF.
