Replace City Water Valve

Was washing and cleaning the MH this morning, and the City Water fill connection pulled out while I was tightening the connection. I am looking to order a new valve, and will probably go ahead and replace the City and Black tank flush valves, and order a spare to keep in the MH. The valve was all plastic, and I see different options on line that look like they will fit, and some have brass connections instead of plastic. Since the search function is not working on this site, has anyone replaced, and have any suggestions on improvements, and where to order one? (lots of seller)

Mark, I know it won't help much on this fix, but I saw the plastic fitting would not last long if I had to disconnect and reconnect them to often. I did the simply "Y" on and off leaving the hoses permanently attached to the plastic fittings. Hope you can find the parts that are better quality and an exact fit.

Thanks Chuck. I have a set up that is permanent most of the time. I was taking loose to clean the screen inside, and tightening the return hose from the softener when it came off. I also did not have my pressure regulator attached, and I believe the pressure was much higher than the 55 or so I keep it at. Had a drip at the connection, and kept tightening a little - Lesson learned on that one.

Once fixed, I will report back.

HA! now the truth comes out I think you just talked me into installing my pressure regulator permanently inline. It has been on my "to do" list.

I was going to plumb the gauge into the wet bay, but I had one of the regulators blow at Winstar Casino in OK one weekend (the good one? with the gauge from Camping World), and the water ran all night without me knowing down the RV Park. If it was in my coach, it would have flooded the basement for sure. I attach to the water source at the park, especially since that happened.

The casino was not nice either.

Received replacements today - will install. Brass (lead free) connections - hope the .5" connection on back is correct.

That is a nice upgrade over the factory hose connection. Did the back side connection fit?

Those are small things that break that we don't even think about that a pressure regulator would have prevented. When my pressure regulator went out, my fresh water blew past the check valve for the fresh water tank fill. I had to buy one of the CW, good ones while on the road.

Chuck, I may install on Saturday and let you know. They are much heavier than the factory connection. Packaging said "Lead Free", but there is a sticker on the back that states there is a chemical in it that the state of California has deemed causes cancer, birth defects, and reproductive risks.

Whats up with that? (Bought on Amazon for $16, made by B&B, like the factory connection)

Even though I have 3 filters and soft water in the coach, I still drink bottled water. I'm thinking about returning them

Simple solution - don't use it it California.

Prop 65 passed in 1986 requires that if there is any remote chance of any of around 800 chemicals used in the manufacturing process then a label needs to be attached. Note, you can still buy & use it in California, but it has to have the label. Coke & Pepsi had to change the caramel coloring in their soda to avoid the label. IMHO it is a vastly overused label the effectively numbs people, causing them to ignore real hazards. Probably half the stuff in my RV has trace amounts of chemicals known by the state of California (the state is not a person, how can it know anything?) to be harmful.

My advice would be to relax and enjoy your new fixture.

I like your logic.

We saw the Rangers win on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning Sat night. The fight occurred on Sun - we saw that on the Satellite.

BTW - camping at Globe life field is terrific if you like Ranger baseball. This was our first time. We stayed in lot C around 200 yards from the centerfield entrance gate. Easy in, easy out despite a sellout crowd, It was also "bark at the park" night, so there were around 650 dogs there.

That was a good game. We live about 10 miles from the Ballpark. We go to a few Arlington restaurants on Abrams, and I see where the MH 's can park for Cowboy and Ranger games. Looks like fun. I followed your posts about Surprise and Spring Training, and want to go there next year.

I grew up in CA and left because of all the stupid sticker type laws in CA.

My Mom never paid attention or had stickers from CA in her time....she just passed away at 101 last year. So much for CA stickers.

Fresh water inlet replaced. Very easy to do. Take the water connection on the back off (needed a wrench to get it started), remove 3 screws, replace and tighten everything. Took me longer to figure out which way to loosen the nut on the back than the rest. I will carry a spare from now on.

As you can see, I put my regulator in the wet bay. Not sure if I will leave it - the part that came off was the gray side when it ran all night, and it is pointed down and would hopefully exit out the bottom water and sewer hose pass through.
