Replacing Receiver Hitch
Need to replace my 2" receiver hitch with one with a greater adjustable drop. Need an 8 " drop, 15,000 lb capacity, . Currently using a CURT but only has a 6" drop.
Any suggestions
Cheers,

Only 10,000lbs but Roadmaster may build you a stronger one.

I assuming you are towing the car hauler with a ball hitch?
Here is one that goes 7.5" with a 16K rating.

With that much drop from hitch to load, you really are putting amazing amounts of stress on the motorhome hitch connection. We had a fellow on here a while ago that discovered that his hitch was almost torn off the coach pulling a very large trailer (and your 22 footer falls into that category) and with a sizable "drop" down or up adapter.... be careful backing up and check your hitch for tears in the steel mounting to the frame and welds very often. That is a lot of torque!! Those hitch load ratings are for a straight pull or push and not one with a lot of leverage produced by a 6" or 8" drop/raise....

I have to agree with you Gary. My last toad required a 4 inch drop receiver, not all brands use the best steel. I purchased one of the Top brands, but the receiver pin wallowed out the hole in the receiver so bad I thew it away. I thought the slop was to dangers and purchased the other top brand.
On this toad purchase, part of my shopping was tow bar height that would not require a drop receiver. Anything added to the towing setup can become the weak link. I have had one tow bar break and that was enough. Towing setup is now one of my key focuses.

I agree, Gary. If this were my setup to move the trailer once or twice I would go ahead and use the drop hitch. If I were doing this on a regular basis I would rebuild the hitch on the trailer side to be at ride height for the receiver and use a straight hitch.
BTW, how close to the ground is this hitch? Seems like it must be just six or so inches off the ground? That would also be a concern.

Bingo, same thing I was thinking with that large of a drop down receiver is raising the tongue of the trailer, one less weak link in the chain.
