Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The route on our next trip includes Cleveland. We will take advantage of that to stop at the R&R HoF.

Searching the Camping forum shows the Streetsboro KOA as a good campground for access to a number of Cleveland sights. Does anyone have another recommendation?

We plan to take I-90 from Buffalo down to Cleveland, haven't decided where after that. We will be wandering home.

As you wander home, probably don't want to use I35 across the Red River back into Baja Oklahoma. Last I heard it was still closed by high water

BTW, Rock and Roll HOF sounds like fun. may have to add that to the agenda when we head east this Fall.

We're gonna hit R&R and NFL HoF. As well as a couple others like Fannie Mae Chocolate Factory.

Our plan is to use roads we haven't traveled yet as much as possible. I-35 is definitely out but thanks for the warning!

Cash Coach

Make sure as you leave the R & R Hall of Fame that you tour the Johnny Cash MCI Coach in the parking lot. Tour is included with your admission. Keep in mind this was the ultimate bus in the early 80's. No slides. Custom designed by Johnny himself with a section for him, June Carter Cash mid-section and child section in rear. I think they allow 3 in the bus at a time. Anymore, and you can't turn around or get out!
When you exit, you will go home to your Entegra and kiss your EC emblem and probably write Joyce another thank you letter!

Did the NFL hall of fame and R&R hall of fame last year. What is the special attraction at R&R this year? Last year it was the Rolling Stones. Very impressive. Almost 3 floors of nothing but Stones write-ups, history, band wear, instruments and memorabilia!

Ron.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a great to do item for your list. Head over toward the Little Italy section of town for some great meals.

We stayed at the Streetsboro KOA. Nice rural setting. Lakes, new pool, trees, dog area, great staff. Some sites are not level. I would definitely stay there again.

Other sites & visits

While in Cleveland at R&R Hall of Fame we hit the Cleveland Zoo which was one of the best zoo's we have visited. They had an elephant crossing in which the visitors path was shut down so the elephants came by right in front of you. They had a very good rainforest in a seperate building. Good gorilla section. Even saw large turtles having a disagreement. Meerkats amazed at any sound, including the keys in my pocket.

We ate lunch at the "Melt" in Cleveland which was featured on Man vs. Food. Incredible selection of melted cheese sandwiches. Probably 50 different types. The grilled cheese challenge that I could not wait to take on, which was a 5 pound melt challenge of 13 differerent cheeses I had to pass up. The employees told me don't do it. Everybody gets sick that tries. No time limit. Just too much cheese.

We also visited the "Christmas Story House" in Cleveland. Took our picture with the famous "leg lamp". Got to hold Ralphie's Red Ryder BB gun! Movie museum across the street. You can buy your own Lifebuoy soap or bunny suit!

Must go the West Side Market for an incredible selection of meats, cheeses, seafood and deli items. Fruit and vegetables galore!

After the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, we went to the Gervasi Vineyard in Canton. Absolutely the most beautiful Vineyard we have ever visited. Enjoyed a bottle of wine with cheese, meat and fruit platter on the beautiful grounds.

Just writing this mail together, we agree that we want to do this trip again.

The campground we stayed at was Maple Lakes campground. Midpoint between Cleveland and Canton and was right next to a huge farm. Stella the pig ate corn on the cob right from the stalk the entire week!

Coincidentally "The Melt" was just now on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! We will definitely try it!

You might want to look in to Maple Lakes Campground

Always found the staff to be very nice.

Stayed at Roundup Lake in Mantua. We liked it. A bit off the beaten path.

we just visited both HOF. Johnny Cash tour bus is no longer on display. The melt was ,,,,very cheesey! Streetsboro is nice and convenient off the highway about 40 mins from Rock and Roll.

We boondocked at the Football Hall of Fame. They were very accomodating.

Here is a question: What do you think it would take for a Theater Organist to make it into the Rock and Roll hall of fame?

Robert "Bob" Gene Heil.... He's in there......

I have a few of the reasons lying about this motor home.
