Route Specific Help
Hi guys, I’m driving my Aspire and a towed on a dolly from Miami to Hamden Connecticut. Looks like 95 is the way to go up to NC or so, I’d appreciate any input or experiences getting around the Baltimore Tunnel, crazy cities and the GW Bridge. Any one have suggestions or experienced this route in person lately? I have an RV GPS, but I’m not too familiar with the North East. I’m driving solo so no co-pilot to assist in guidance. Any help would be appreciated!!

Route Specific Help
You will probably get lots of advice on this route. Have spent a lot of time around Washington DC and having driven to the Maine a few times here’s one recommendation. Take I-95 to near Fredericksburg, VA then take Rt-17 (4 lanes most of the way) to Winchester, VA. Then follow I-81 to Scranton and I-84 to your destination. You will avoid most of the traffic and tolls associated with the I-95 corridor, it’s more scenic and less stressful. Safe travels!

You have been given a good route by previous poster.
If you are not in a hurry and would like to take a scenic route. I-95 to Emporia Va. Then Hwy 58 to Norfolk. Hwy 13 up the Bay Bridge tunnel to Lewes De. From there get on the Lewes-Cape May ferry. I've done it many times and it is a pleasant breakup of the trip. It's a fun crossing. Take the Garden State Parkway to the top of the parkway then I-287 east across the Mario Cuomo Bridge (we still call it the Tappan Zee bridge). Continue on I-287 to I-95.
Do Not use the George Washington Bridge. It costs a fortune and traffic can be horrific. I won't even tell you about how bad the road is.
Happy Trails!

I also used Alex's routed and avoided NY completely except one little corner crossing the Hudson river. We stopped in Lancaster to enjoy the Amish Country and the large Hershey RV show. Very enjoyable route.

I have used this route over two dozen times driving between FL and ME. It is a great route but will take you some distance north of Hamden, Ct. You will need to find a way to get from I-84 to Hamden.
By the way, here is a great boondocking stop on this route. Free parking, mostly level and quiet.

Coming off I 81 both north and south how do you find the Mohegan Sun property and do they have room or any problems with motorhomes thanks

I just follow the GPS from I-81. It is a couple of miles from the interstate on good roads. No problems with overnite parking at Mohegan Sun. Loads of space in the North parking lot farthest from the main road.

Grower 15 has the best route, once you get on 84 East continue until you come up to 691, take that route until you hit 91 south, you'll need to get off for the Wallingord / Hamden exit.
BTW....wave as you go by my hometown of Waterbury

Skipping I-95 through Maryland is a must if you have propane on board. Baltimore toll tunnel will make you detour.

Great news! What route did you take? The one suggested is what I used for a baseball HOF trip a couple years ago.
