I have the WFR GoAC and it does everything you mentioned. Some think you need to buy it with the EliteAC outdoor router/antenna for it to work but that’s not so. It works great on it’s own plus the user interface is vastly better than the other nonRV specific router options.

For the record I use mine without the outdoor booster equipment all the time and am doing so right now. I’m posting this with a Mobley device connected to the GoAC via usb cable.

It’s a little over your budget at $349 but I think there’s a IRV2.com discount.

With all due respect, that is an incorrect understanding of how WiFiRanger hardware can be used. Clearly, we need to do a better job of explaining how our hardware can be configured.

Both the Ranger GoAC and Core routers can be used indoors by themselves without any need for a rooftop unit. All Ranger components are fully self-contained routers that do not need any additional hardware in order to be fully functional.

If you need any further clarification of this, feel free to ask.

If your Verizon hotspot has a usb out port then there are many router options. I had been using an ASUS N66U that I replaced the firmware with the Merlin update. I got a refurbish unit for $45 I was able to plug my Mobley directly into the router's usb port. It worked great. I had 4 Ethernet ports, and both 2.4ghz and 5ghz ssids. I recently replaced the mobley with a netgear explore 815s which has 15 wireless connections, so I no longer need the router.

Should have read your response better you are trying to connect two or more wireless devices. The WD HD will most likely only function as a client.

In your current equipment line up you need a wireless bridge to connect the hotspot, HD and the laptop.

Something along these lines.

I use a Verizon whole house router with ethernet built in. 1 device should solve all your problems. It even gives you a phone line if you want it. It seems to pick up LTE better then a small hotspot, but I don’t have any proof of that.

I stand corrected. When I was looking for a stand alone router with WiFi as Wan, I also did a search for WifiRanger routers and I came up with this page (https://wifiranger.com/shop/category/34-routers) that showed these results:

Core- An indoor WiFi router with LAN and USB accessibility that pairs with an outdoor WiFiRanger solution.

GoAC- An indoor WiFi router with LAN and USB accessibility that pairs with an outdoor WiFiRanger solution.

I assumed that meant that an outdoor WifiRanger solution was required. The descriptions also did not mention "WiFi as WAN" anywhere, which was another requirement I was looking for, so I did not dig any further. Maybe if I did enough digging I could have found that information. I apologize if I mis-stated the WifiRanger capabilities.

Simpler option to create hot spot Ethernet hub. Can you operate with your HD connected to the laptop only

No apology needed. It's better for us to learn that the messages on our website aren't clear and need some rewording. It's our responsibility to get our message across to potential customers.

I just ordered this one from Amazon. Bott's instructions seem pretty simple. I also like the fact that I am not mounting anything on the roof.

I have half of this setup - the loco M2 as the WAN side to my NETGEAR R6700 - I like this setup because i can connect to my cell hotspot, campground or home wifi and find the Netgear covers the motorhome better than others & my NAS / PLEX server connects to the Netgear via CAT 5.

I recently upgraded my older SOHO Surf to the newer model because I was having some of the same problems you are. They are as different as night and day. The new model supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz and more importantly 802.11AC. It also supports my Verizon hotspot on USB.
Mine is the MK3, which I believe is the newest version.
It used to connect to my 6620L hotspot via USB, but no longer will.

Is there something I need to do to get it to connect USB?
I turn off wifi on the hotspot and it shows a blinking usb icon.
I plug the cable in and the blinking usb icon goes solid.

Absolutely nothing happens on the router. The dashboard screen continues to showing searching for a priority 1 wifi on wan connection. I seem to recall that the times it worked, it just did, and a USB wan input connection just appeared.
Nothing in the book about actually connecting via USB.
Is there something I have to do to it?

I have this system too and it works well, although, due to the poor quality of most CG WiFi Systems, I seldom use it anymore. The Bott system will connect to a hotspot, but it can’t do anything about a weak cell signal so using it with the Mobley often left me unsatisfied.

It sounds like the router is not configured for usb 3g/4g tethering. It’s been a year so I don’t remember the exact steps, but my Asus router required configuring to use the USB port for something other than just a storage device. Just plugging in a usb cable connected to a 3g/4g source didn’t give me a connection.

I have been using a couple of the Ubiquiti NanoStation Loco M2 for years. I use one of them as an access point to broadcast WiFi from the house to our shop. The problem is that it is old technology. It does not support the much faster 802.11ac. I still have one in the coach but never use it anymore because of that. I have tested my throughput many times with and without it. Because my router uses the newer 802.11ac it is much faster than using the Loco M2. The Loco M2 will give me a little bit more range if I am trying to connect to a far away weak access point, but as long as the router can connect the speeds are always better by just using the router. Ubiquiti makes some great equipment. The only downside is their equipment is much more complicated to set up. It is definitely not plug and play. If you don't have technical knowledge setting up wireless networks or spend the time to learn how, I would not recommend their equipment. That is my experience.
