Satellite Antennas

I have Direct TV, New coach will be here June 3. I always had in motion satellite. Does anyone have both in motion & Travelers antennas on there coach, and is it a big hassle to go from one to the other.

Tommy - Our new 17 is at NIRV getting rigged this week and we are adding an In Motion also. We had both on our 15 and you switched between the In Motion and T'vler with an A/B antenna switch. It worked but it was kind of a clunky system. If you didn't tune to a non HD station before you switched over to the In Motion you would get the dreaded "loss of signal" message which will not let you change channels and you never knew if it was the dome or if you didn't switch channels. Bobby at NIRV is doing the install on the new coach and he recommended adding another receiver dedicated to the In Motion and then you can select IM or T'vler with the TV remote. We talked about going through the Vegatouch but I didn't want to fiddle with the iPad or go to the hallway control to work the system. I'm doing the "official PDI" in Lewisville Monday and I'll let you know how it works.

We have both and it is switched with an A/B switch. Most of the time we are using the traveler so the in motion rarely gets used.

Mine came with the in-motion and I added the Travler for HD when stationary. I se an AB switched. The install addition of the second antenna is fairly easy if you are used to this kind of project. Besides the A-B switch, you also have to go into the DirecTV menu setup to change satellite type. It may differ depending upon your receiver model.

We have the traveler and in motion,we also have a dish outside our storage building so we have an abc switch. The system is easy as far as switching to the in motion make sure your receiver is tuned to a school channel . The swim set up makes it easy.

What is a school channel?

I have Comcast.....With a 15' wire that hangs out the back of the coach with LED lights. The reception is not too good, but nobody follows me too close either.

Call NIRVC - Angie For a new 2017,You can keep the 15' LED KITE TAIL, it just will not not show up as well!!!! The new lights are just too bright. You might have to go to 30' of lights. Hope this helps you with your COMCAST reception. I will be looking for you on the road.....

We currently have the Direct TV Traveller Sat Dish. We're considering the purchase of a Tailgater for use when parked under cover. Where would the Tailgater hook into on the coach? Is it into the cable outlet located in the power bay or somewhere else? Also, where does the A/B switch get connected? Thanks!!

Exactly. Wire it to the cable input and then find the cable in your A-V center (mine was on the back of the BOB (box of buttons)) and then use that for your A-B switch.

Bob, just for clarification, when you say "wire it in", do you mean screw it to the male cable plug or hard wire behind the plug? Thanks very much for the info.

Thanks to you all for input, with that said I have decided not to have in motion at this time. WE are going to see if we miss it. We were getting it for the grand kids to watch & they have not had time to go with us, since our 2014 Anthem. So I don't think we need in motion.

I guess I am one of the very few after trying Direct for 2 years that is going to switch back to DISH. I am now glad Entegra installed the wrong Traveler on mine when they installed one for DISH instead of Direct.

Direct TV is all I have had in my coaches. In Aug. 2013 when we got our 1st coach, I look @ Dish real hard. Went with Direct TV, all in all it has been good for us. In March 2016 we change @ home from ATT U-verse to Direct TV to save $$$ as we hope to be on the road more than home. Have one box, use it @ home when @ home. Take the box in the coach when on the road. We are having a problem with AT&T BUNDLEING. We have TV - home phone & Internet. When on the phone ordering, all was good but when the bill came no bundle discount. Bonnie has attacked AT &T so the problem will be solved!!!
