Screen Door Opener
I saw this on a fifth wheel the other day. Has anyone tried to retrofit it onto one of our doors?

Just to be clear, it allows you to open the door from the inside with out sliding open the glass pane

Definitely intrigued. Years ago I saw a screen door that had a lever on both sides at different elevations. The levers had a connecting rod of some sort between them. Something similar would not only keep you from having to slide plexiglass, you would not have to stoop from the inside to open door.

I found the matching knob at Home Depot.
SCREEN DOOR KNOB UPDATE:
I was finally doing this mod today. After staring at this plastic panel, the door knob did not look centered. I removed the plexiglass and put a tape on it and sure enough, hole is drilled 6 1/2 down from one side and 7 1/2 down from the other. Flipped the panel around and was able to screw the matching knob into it and it cleared the door handle. So before you drill another hole, try the flip.
Van,
If you flip that plexiglass, you can install a $2.00 knob from H.D. or Lowe's that lets you have knob inside directly attached to outside knob. I am still looking for my picture to show you.
Ron.

I went low tech on the issue. I took the strike plate for the screen door off. Put a screen door cross bar on the door. $15.00 at CW. Then attached a bungy cord from the cross bar to the hand rail on the hinge side of the entry. No damage to the door and I can always put the strike plate back on. Remember the old wooden screen doors with a spring? That's the way it works. You don't have to reach way down to unlatch the door just push it open and it close behind you.

Be nice to have some kind of lever that you can operate when in the coach, and not walking down or bending down the stairway. I've wondered if you can make another handle that would also operate the lower handle and open the screen door while standing by the passenger seat.

If the door is from ptl engineering, they have a modified plastic slider that has an integrated handle. Works really well, and can be retrofitted.

It is PTL. Do you have a link for the slider mod?
