But GCs main point would never-the-less be true.... Brand new 2019s are now being discounted heavily by dealers (Motor Home Specialists has 10 brand new 19s sitting on their lot that "must go" and are very deeply discounted) who are trying to move them off the lot. For him to have much chance of a quick sale, he would probably have to go significantly under that price to make his coach very attractive and move quickly. Many people "in the business" say that the optimum time to sell a coach is about 3 years. If you can stand the loss, then price it very low and let it go.

Lemme tell y'all a story, stupid but true.
My mom decided she wanted to sell her 1992 Champion EuroPremier. She and my dad had bought this beauty new, and had put alot of miles and memories on it, but mom felt that with dad's passing, and her advanced age and unstable stance, she could no longer safely enjoy this rig. I did not want her going thru the selling process, so I took the rig to my home near SLC and listed it for her, with power of attorney to sign and sell it. Many lookers, I took some for a drive, got the rig to a safe place and offered to let prospective buyers drive it, yadayada. Asking 16k. Three guys from 100 miles away in Idaho called, came by and were very serious. We haggled, and agreed on 14k. One guy whips out a personal checkbook. I told him his check was not gonna do anything, I needed cash or a bank instrument. He said 'drive it to Malad, I'll go to my house and get the cash, give it to you in Malad, and give you a ride home.' (Anybody see the problem yet?) I said GiddyUp!
I'm sitting in Malad when he shows up with one hundred and forty $100 bills. I count them and sign the docs and we get in his truck, just him and I and one hundred and forty untraceable $100 bills, and we head out, hopefully to my house and not to some final resting place in the spacious and unpopulated mountains and deserts between Malad and SLC.

Lesson: do the transaction at your bank, even if your bank is not involved. Crooks don't want to go into a bank without a mask on, like vampires and daylight.

I wish I could say this is turning out differently than I thought it might but I had to see for myself. Note to self for future, this time of year is a buyers market not sellers. I priced at a point that I think would normally be attractive, unfortunately the dealers are pricing aggressively too. While I am priced lower, as has been pointed out, the new units have full two years of warranty and are not too much more.
Lucky for me, we still have a great coach to live in (we’re full timers). I think once the 19’s are all gone, especially since the 20s had a pretty good bump in price, mine will look a lot better. At that time there will be close to 100K difference between my price and actual selling price for a 20. If we sold that would dictate when I was going to have surgery, my third one for the year, if it doesn’t sell relatively quickly then surgery sooner and we sell after recovery in a few months.
Either way looking forward to getting back on the road next year....still have tons of this country to see.

Chuck

You are not the only one on here who times big decisions around surgery and major treatments.... quite a few of us have been through that business. I hope that all the medical stuff goes well, and that you have fun with the coach while you have it.

In life, you just have to do what makes sense at the time you have a decision to make.

Good luck on both

Gary

I sold my 13 Anthem Sept last year. It was in excellent condition but the tires were 5 1/2 years old. Buyer and I negotiated on the tire issue and I felt lucky to come out of the deal with a little over my bank loan payoff.

You need to wait it out a little bit. I'm getting quotes at around 40% discount rates for 2019s and low 30s for 2020s. The manufactures are giving big discounts to the dealers, which more than likely were not available when you first bought your coach. I bought a brand new 2018, end of year truck last year at a 25% discount rate over the internet while used one were advertising for much more. Unfortunately the timing sucks. I think you said it best, wait for the 2019s to be all sold out before selling yours but make sure there is enough warranty left for the future owner to ride it and take it for it's 2 year Annual Inspection Report (AIR).

Sorry to hear about your health issues.
