Shattered Side Window

While on a short trip home today, half of the big dinette window shattered. There was no apparent cause. I noticed it after we arrived home. Sent photos to Dave Troxel at CS. I read a thread about this happening to some folks. I also had the 1/2 bath window delaminate two weeks ago. I was hoping these issues that were happening to the "classics" were taken care of with the the "new" models.

Any theories why these windows are shattering.

So why did my photos turn 90 degrees?

As a Classic owner, after having my delaminated windows replaced on my PDI, the next one I will do Cruzer's fix on. No since replacing them with windows that continue to delaminate. Glad you pointed it out. I am guessing it is still the same window manufacture.

I once had a window shatter on a fifth wheel. I was parked on a severe side slope. When breaking down I did an auto retract. I was surprised with how fast the jacks retracted without any consideration to keeping the frame from twisting. Don't know if that alone was the cause. Dutchman did replace window with no argument.

Still today when parked on a severe slope, I manually lower at a controlled speed before doing "retract all".

Also, the forward dinette window install was a documented issue during my PDI. It would not close like others and appeared to be bound up.

Well, I know it sounds crazy, but I, as many others, have found rock chips as high as 10 ft off the ground on the sides of the coach. What that tells me is there are a lot of rocks that come out sideways off trucks and the deep tread SUVs/pickups.

That said, it is possible, given the limited number of shattered windows, that rocks could be the cause...probably not what most want to hear, but possible. JMHO

Happened to me as well. Gorilla Tape should always be in your tool box. Worked for me for several weeks, before getting it replaced.

Sideways Pics

Did you upload the photos from your phone? Send it to your PC, re-orient it as necessary and save it. Then upload the pics to irv2. (Re save it on your PC even if it looks right.) This always works for me.

Thanks.

I took photos with iPhone and loaded from iPad. I don't use a pc anymore. Hate Microsoft.
