Shurflo 4008 Repair on my Cornerstone
After reviewing posts regarding the issues with the Shurflo 4008 pumps I decided to attack this from a different angle. I was ready to push the purchase of a new pump as the motor was running but it was not pumping water.
So this morning I tore into it and got lucky, perhaps buying a little more time to purchasing a new one!
Here is a PDF documenting what I did, and where the pump is located. Also have a YouTube video...
The video is embedded in the PDF document, but if that does not work here is a link as well: https://youtu.be/uCC2125PdpQ

So what was the issue with your pump and the fix?

The issue was that the pump was running but I was not getting water, the fix was there was a stuck valve in the head of the pump... I documented it in the PDF to assist others.

Hey Larry, I remember a couple weeks ago you were talking about how long your vegatouch kept your batteries in absorb charge. I checked mine today after an 8 hour drive. Mine stayed in absorb for 2.5 hours then went to float. Don't know if that means anything, but thought it might help.

This is probably a stupid question, but why is the filter on the 4008's (possibly other pumps as well) on the output side of the pump? I don't have a plumping diagram of our coach (would be helpful). Maybe the large filter in our basement is inline before the pump. Assumption. Would make sense. So during your repair, did you notice any sediment in the valve, or just poor design? Now that you've discovered the problem, any thoughts on preventing it from reoccurring? Wonder if placing another filter just before the pump is needed. I replace the normal house filters once a year, and I'm not a full timer. Plus I place an external filter at the city water connection for added filtration.
Nicely done....thanks!

It was on the input side, when I first put the pump back together and when I did the video I had the pump rotated wrong... I ended up correcting that, the filter is on the side that has the arrow facing into the pump. I though about commenting on that but didn't think anyone would notice... You are sharp!
Thanks for asking!
