Our 4008 original pump failed on our last outing. Ordered and received the new 4048 last week. After the install this am, pump runs and pumps great. But pump will not shut off! Tried adjusting the shut off switch to no avail. Only turned the adjustment screw 1/2 round out to lower the shutoff pressure. Also increased the bypass pressure by 1/2 turn in. According to instructions the full bypass pressure should be 10 psi higher than shutoff pressure or pump will continue to run. Scratching my head on this. Anyone have the same issue with a new pump install?
And as always, things always go south when under pressure. Plans were to leave tomorrow am for a week on the road.
Thanks, GrAndy

Right out of the box the cut in and cut out pressures should be fairly close. Any chance a valve in the wet bay is in the wrong position?

As it turned out the 4048 pump has worked flawlessly with the existing wiring. We travel extensively in our coach and encounter a broad range in water quality. All water used in the coach is drawn from the fresh water tank automatically kept filled through heavily filtered city water. As a result the pump is constantly used.
When I did my 4048 upgrade, it blew the breaker almost immediately, and constantly.
The breaker is 5 amps, and the seelevel switch just 7 amps.

I used an autoparts store relay powered by the macerator power.

We have upgraded to the 4048. So far we are on our third. Two replaced under warranty. SHURflo has been very good about replacing the pumps.

Man do I feel dumb! After checking this out for another hour or so, realized that the kitchen sink faucet was partially open. Did not realize this, as when the pump would not shut off, I would unplug it and walk around and through the coach to check that all faucets were closed. The wife later came out while I had the pump running and asked was the kitchen faucet supposed to be open?
Sometimes it just the obvious that I overlook.

I saw a post where someone made a plastic base and mounted the pump on top of the macerator with flexible hose connecting to the original plumbing. Definitely would help with the noise. Then again I take comfort knowing any leak will have an audible announcement. I did not shut off the outside nozzle fully leaving a trickle. The pump let me know. I just installed the tech service bulletin parts for the ice maker and the pump lets us know when it is filling the tray.

There is a down side to the 4048 pump. The flow rate is about 25% greater than the 4008 and eats up the fresh water tank faster. Have to be more careful when off grid.
Tom, I would be the guilty party who did that.

I know all of you who've installed Shurflo 4048 pumps don't want to hear it, but the Aquajet pump is noticeably quieter. More info here:

That was a really nice install. Problem with forums is trying to find something. One question. When you mounted the plastic plate did you use the existing SaniCon threaded holes or make your own. Again, awesome mod.

Tom, click on the link below. It will take you to a bit of a long post, but I believe it will answer your question:

Looks like I have a winter lay-up project with some excellent well throughout plans. Excellent write-up.

Thanks for the info,
Tom
