Side light reflectors

Someone asked for some pictures of the factory installed reflector tape...All I will say is it does not appear to be a very secure installation:-(Click image for larger version

When they have to add stick on reflectors to compensate for the lack of them on LED markers it defeats the purpose of the nice clean look the LEDs could have provided. Appearance wise one step forward, two steps back. Progress?

Maybe three or four steps backwards. I understand their need to comply with the recall....However the means of compliance is not suitable in my estimation

I would have preferred that over the non blinking reflective lights that I ended up with. Mine got swapped out before I took delivery of my '18.

I'm following all of the lighting threads. Like many others, I'd also like to have the signals on the sides.

Looks easy to take off and throw away once signed off on the recall.

They are aware most of us will be unhappy with the means of compliance. I think an acceptable means of compliance will come from a savvy member of this forum....

Chuck,

My thoughts exactly! That was my plan when I got the recall notice.....until I realized mine had already been replaced, removing that option for me. :-(

Now, it looks like I'll have to buy new lights.

I have test lights in the mail right now. Once I receive them, I will be doing some testing. If they work like I think they will, I will have them plug and play. However, they will not be reflective. I have exhausted myself looking for 3 wire reflective lights. If DOT does not care to have them manufactured, I don't care about using them either. JMO

Looks awesome! I think my story would be, “There were there yesterday! I don’t know what happened to them!”

The only way to be “officially compliant” is to have Entegra perform the recall. Entegra has filed documents with the government, for their product, with part numbers and pictures and their solution and it has been accepted.

Th question came up about customers preforming or providing a solution for this recall and showing to Entegra has been asked. The answer was that Entegra will not accept it or sign off on it. Entegra will only clear your VIN number only if they perform the recall......Period. Not my words, but theirs.

NIRVC sent in the paper work on mine as being complied with. I was told differently in that If you did it and took it to Entegra they would look at it and if ok they would sign off on it. They also said a dealer could do it.

We were at NIRVC just about two and a half weeks ago and our service advisor, Patrick, told me the same thing. Just left Entegra service in Middlebury and our service advisor, Mary, explained it to us the same way.

Don't know what to tell you. All I can say is how mine was done and what I was told. Actually, my source at Entegra went to the head of this program to get the info. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

DOT doesn't manufacture lights. All our lights are made for the truck market, and there, the custom is usually lots of reflective tape for the reflector part, so no one has bothered to manufacture lights.

I personally don't have a real problem with a separate reflector, although I sure wouldn't do it like Entegra did. I'd hunt down reflectors with a lozenge shape similar to the lights, then put them right next to the light at the same height. About as unobtrusive as I can get.
