Slide Topper Repair

Paul, That is a heck of an idea. I just bought a new truck that has the door edge guards. They are clear, pliable and easy to attach. I am going to pick some up today and do my awnings before there is any age on them. Thanks for the great idea.

Just replace the left rear slide top - I used Tough Top - Very good quality and speedy service - I will replace the rest with them as they go bad.

Steve, I don't see why not. The one's that came on my new Colorado are clear and very thin. I was just at Auto Zone and forgot to look and get some. I hate it when CRS sits in

I was very impressed primarily with the strength of his stitching....double rows, rather than single stitching.
On most slide toppers, the stitching will fail before the fabric.

Be sure to use the adhesive door guards, the non adhesive will pull off. Stone Vos uses much better fabric and as Pat said double stitches with special thread that will last much longer than OEM.

Just had one of ours restitched, than reversed it (put the originally exposed end into the roller) when I put it back on. After doing the shortest one first, I hand stitched the other side seams, they are only a few inches. Be sure to get thread that will handle outside exposure. Took about an hour to a side, but it is easy to stitch, looks better, and LOTS easier than taking that cover off the 30' slide!! Needle nose pliers wrapped with tape to grip the needle was a great help.
