Spartan Coolant Reservoir
Thanks to this forum, I checked my coolant reservoir for corrosion today. My 2017 Anthem is still under the 3 year Spartan warranty so I would think this would be covered.
I would recommend that you check for corrosion inside the reservoir since this has been mentioned as a fairly common issue.
Thanks again.

Yours looks a lot worse than mine did and they replaced mine so you shouldn't have any problem at all.

Spartan Coolant Reservoir
I just replaced mine and the three year warranty will expire in January 2019.
I called Spartan last week and they said send a picture of the neck.
I did that and they shipped a new coolant tank under warranty and with a helper we installed it Saturday.
Be sure to request the sensor also as the one currently in the tank will mostly break when you attempt to remove it. It came with the sight glass already installed.

I've just finished up at Spartan today... our "neck" has a little bit of rust in it, but not a lot. Since we are out of warranty, replacing it would be on our dime. According to the tech, if we don't and it doesn't get worse, then all is good. So, we are holding off ... had enough stuff to to add up to $2,914.52 .... these beasts sure do like the taste of $$$$ ....

Thanks for the tips guys! They are sending me a new tank and sensor. No labor, since I'm just out of warranty, but it's doesn't look too hard to swap out.

Spartan Coolant Reservoir
You or a helper will need to go up behind the tank to remove the two rear bolts. Also there is a wiring harness fasten to the bottom of the tank that needs to be removed.
We took the old tank down out rather than out the rear. Not sure if there is room to remove over hydraulic tank, didn't even try that.
The 1/4 inch pipe fittings in the new tank were rough. The brass fittings seem to bind up after a couple threads so got a 1/4 pipe tap and chased the threads. Hope this helps.

Do I understand correctly that the new tanks are stainless?
Any issues with the hydraulic tank?
Thanks!

Spartan told me in May when mine was changed that the throat is stainless. My new tank looks just like the old one. I’d be interested to know if anyone got an all stainless tank.

We have a 2016 Anthem and Spartan replaced ours in June but I don't believe that it is stainless but it may be . Truth is I have never really checked. One thing I do know is that it is a different shape than the old one.

Well I think my new tank was the same as the one I replace. The neck being stainless steel is interesting that I don't know about. I'll check that with a magnet when I get back to the coach.
The gentleman at Spartan's CS indicated that the inside of the tank may have some of kind special treatment now but he was not really clean on that.
Time will tell if the new tanks will rust or not.

The original tanks and necks have a coating but of course when the neck was welded onto the tank the heat removed the coating and rust developed as explained to me by Spartan thus the new necks supposedly are stainless.
Our radiator was replaced in Dec. the tank in Jan. and after much debate a complete radiator flush and new antifreeze in May.

I have to wonder why these tanks are corroding/rusting within a closed cooling system ? Made from cheap/junk steel from China? My tank is the same as today's and it is shinny steel inside and it is 19 yrs. old.......
What is Spartan saying the problem is?

Hayman,
I checked the neck of the replacement coolant tank yesterday with a magnet and it is apparently stainless steel as it was not magnetic.
Thanks for the heads up.
