Spartan recall
Spartan Motors Recall – Defective Quick Release Valve Seat
RECALL Subject : Defective Quick Release Valve Seat
Report Receipt Date: NOV 24, 2014
NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V747000
Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,059
Manufacturer: Spartan Motors, Inc.
SUMMARY:
Spartan Motors, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Gladiator, DR, K2, K3, MetroStar, MM, and NVS vehicles manufactured December 14, 2011, to October 21, 2014, equipped with certain Wabco Quick Release Valves with Double Check. In the affected valves, the rubber diaphragm may be damaged by sharp edges on the valve seat ribs, reducing the available air pressure in the air tanks.
CONSEQUENCE:
The reduced air pressure levels may reduce braking performance and/or the parking brakes could reapply, increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the valve, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 20, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan’s number for this recall is 14021.

Loaded the MH in shorts today and will be wearing long john's tomorrow. At least we won't be shoving it.

Took my Anthem over today to have Specility Vehicles in Henderson, NV check it out. Waiting for Spartan response.
Need to have my steering hose replaced, also a recall item.

Thanks Corey, should we be looking for notices in the mail on these recalls or how did you find out? About air preassure...a question for the group...we were driving yesterday the air pressure readings front and back started at 150 rear and 140 front at blow off, but going down the road both were at 120-130 is that normal?

Those pressures sound normal to me.

Those are normal.....the air suspension is working going down the road which uses air. On a curvy road, you'll really see the fluctuation in the air gauges, but the coach stays nice and level.

Chuck, will your coach stay truly level, or just close to level, when on a sloped surface? Is the Aspire suppose to do the same? Thanks.

Good question. I haven't put a level on the floor to check how level it truly is, but I would say close to level. A sloped surface the coach will still be sloped, but it wont sway back and forth in curves. It sure doesn't sway back and forth like my old Winnebago gasser did.
I imagine we would have to step up to the Hadly air ride on the Cornerstone to get totally level.

We have a 44-B (2015) Anthem and I have checked the floor in several places and the air bags hold it dead level side to side and front to back!

When you are traveling and the coach is at ride height, the air suspension is concerned with keeping the distance between certain reference points on the suspension at a specific distance from matching reference points on the chassis frame. There is no attempt or mechanism to maintain chassis level.
If you have an air leveling system, then when it's activated, the system attempts to achieve a level floor condition by manipulating the volume of air on each air bag.
