Spartan Steering Update

I received a full page print out from Spartan and all of what was done to correct the horrible steering problems my coach had. From what I have been told, mine was a good test vehicle as it was one of the worst with vibrations up to 45 MPH.

Spartan spent two days changing various power steering hoses with different diameters and flexibility. Then moved on to power steering pumps with various restrictor valves until they hit the correct combination. There was a lot of technical jargon that I have tried to explain the way I understood it.

Long story short, the techs at Entegra have raved on how this coach now handles A few have driven it as they "just had to see." It looks like Spartan will be putting together a repair kit for distribution to their dealers. Those that have the steering problems are to contact Scott Wixon 517 543-6400 ext 3272 at Spartan to be put on a list so the kits can be put together.

Chuck,
Thank you for the update on the steering issue. I left a voice mail for Scott at Spartan this morning. I certainly hope this issue is addressed in a timely manner considering the "FIX"is now known.

I guess I am lucky, as my coach has outstanding steering. I think most are this way, with only a very few odd problem ones. I will be interested to see how many others come on here to say they have steering problems. I don't think it is at all widespread but why the few?

I do however have the low speed vibration that occurs when turning at parking speeds. I have gotten so used to it that I hardly notice it anymore, but I wish it weren't there.

Chuck,

Just want to be clear on your Steering issue.

Where ALL your concerns related to vibration in the steering wheel or did you have other issues with your coach steering?

Curt

Just FYI as of late Friday Spartan still doesn't have a clue what to do to fix the slow speed steering whine and steering wheel vibration on the Aspire.

If that is the case, then I was given incorrect information from Joyce and the print out from Spartan. I will be driving my coach this morning and will give the results if the steering issues were resolved. It could be that each steering issue may require different parts than mine did, that I don't know.

Curt,
My steering issues were vibration at low and high speed, 45 MH in a gradual curve.

It could be that since the Aspire has a straight front axle and the Anthem has IFS the problem (and corrective actions) may be different. Just a thought.

At Spartan I was told that they knew what to do about the 45 MPH issue, but they are still working on the low speed whine. As Marc said, I hardly notice it now

I too had a moan when turning at low speeds (no vibration). I was told at Spartan that it was normal, but nothing to worry about, and I have gotten used to it since I only experience it rarely. Of course, that was a year ago, right after the techs had done the 44 point inspection and during the Owner's Course.

I just drove my coach in a large parking lot doing figure 8's and my steering vibration is gone. I do have the normal low speed hum which is totally acceptably. My problem has been corrected. I did not take it on the highway to check the high speed vibration, but if it's gone at low speed, I am sure the high speed has been corrected as well.

I have to ask - were you "testing the steering" or just playing? If you were going "Wheeeeee!" while doing it, you were just playing .

Hope you have many happy miles with your new t̶o̶y̶ coach!

I got my rig out of the shop yesterday. It was at Spartan's certified Colden Enterprises in Buffalo, NY. I had an alignment with all wheels and now it drives so smooth, its like I have new bearings or something. Its nice to when everything is aligned. I thought it couldn't get any better but what a difference it made.

I saw another Entegra there when I was picking up mine. Who's rig is this?
