Stuck with Select Comfort?

My wife is adamantly opposed to Sleep Number beds. Does anyone know if there is an option for a "normal" mattress. Even a Tempur Pedic?
We are looking at the Anthem 42 RBQ.
Thanks in advance.

I changed mine to a regular queen size. Unless there are a lot of twists getting to the bedroom I can't see why there should be a problem.

You can put any matress in the RV that suits you. You do have to buy a specail RV matress unless if is a Rv (short) queen or one with corners lopped off.

Monroesilk, We have never owned a select comfort before just wonder why you didn't like them, we are also looking at the Anthem 42RBQ and would prefer a queen size instead of the king for more room but don't think thats possible to change

Entegra offers a posturepedic/tumpurpedic type mattress as an option.... I hate the sleep number bed also. If I wanted to sleep on an air mattress I would camp in a tent.

We have the select comfort at home and in our previous coach. It does wonders for my back. I've also slept on air mattresses. The two are not the same. Our guest room has the Temperpedic. I hate it. Might as well sleep on the floor. JMHO

We all have different opinions. I've never owned a sleep number bed until our Anthem. I'm 40, with no back issues, but it's the best bed I've ever slept on. Sorry to hear she hates it!

I checked with my dealer who said the Sleep Number is the only choice from the factory. However he said he could get any kind of mattress you want aftermarket.

As someone else asked, I would be curious why your wife doesn't like these beds? One thing I've seen in talking to others that have one is that frequently they set the numbers too high. I frequently hear people say their number is over 50. My wife and I set ours at 30. If we set ours to 50, our backs would kill us the next day. It took us a couple weeks to get it set to the right number - set it, sleep on it for a couple nights then reset if necessary.

On our last coach, we just couldn't seem to get it right. At the suggestion of a friend, we ordered a special foam pad to put on top under the sheet. The extra cushioning was all it took and the bed was great going forward.

I put a select comfort in my coach but instead of using Select's foam topper I installed a 3" memory foam from Khols. The best of both worlds. It works great. Temperpedic to me was a joke. Got to hot and no bounce back, if you get what I mean. Of coarse, too old to care now.

Add me to the list of Sleep Number haters. Through various twists of fate, I have owned three of them and hated them all. I can't say exactly why except that they just aren't comfortable for me. I tried ALL settings over an extended period of time without success. Even tried the foam topper.

People seem to either love them or hate them. We ended up replacing ours with a standard queen Beauty Rest and all is well.

Might add that Tempurpedic type are very heavy so I would think if one uses any storage under bed, there could be a lift problem. We have this type mattress on our home bed and it is very heavy and not easy to move at all, even just a little slide one way or the other is difficult. And, as someone mentioned, they can get hot. We even added a memory foam type topper to give use the comfort we wanted. To me the mattress alone is fairly firm.

As RickO said, I/We have slept on Sleep Number beds several times. My brothers in law both have them in their guest rooms. Guess they got a bulk deal. Anyway, we spent a week at each of their homes and could not get comfortable. We tried numbers from 30 up to 85 and just felt uncomfortable.
I realize that I can put any mattress I want into my MH, I was hoping that Entegra would have an option. Wonder if they can delete the Sleep Number mattress and credit the cost?

Don't listen to the dealer, call Entegra they will offer you another mattress.
