Survival Kit
What extra parts should a newbie (like myself) carry for chassis and aqua hot? Can't carry it all but need too have a basic survival kit. Suggestions?

My must carry spare parts include both fuel filters (don't leave home without them) and a filter wrench to change them along side the road, both engine fan belts, a gallon of the correct coolant http://www.irv2.com/forums/attachmen...1&d=1400947440 The wrong coolant added will be a $470 coolant flush as posted by Dave.
A gallon of engine oil and I will probably pickup an Aqua Hot fuel filter, those can be bought at NAPA I was told.
I have had to use the fuel filter more than once due to bad fuel even at high volume stations. If I have picked up water in the fuel, I stop at Walmart and buy enough bottles of Heat for Diesel for the amount of fuel in the tank. It has always got rid of the water for me. Iso-HEET Premium Fuel-Line Antifreeze, Water Remover and Injector Cleaner: Motor Oil, Transmission Fluid & Car Lubricant : Walmart.com
If I have had to use my spare fuel filter, my next stop is at a Cummins shop to replace it.
It is not unusual for a diesel to use a gallon of oil, or more, between changes until the rings seat. On my last MH that was about 25,000 miles.

That is engine only. Here is an excellent post by hogdriver/Dave about the only approved coolant for our engines. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/head...nt-204999.html The aqua hot also takes a special non automotive anti freeze, but it is not something I would carry for emergency parts....yet.

What type type of motor oil does the Cummins 450 take and fuel filters?
I am not near my RV but would like to get these today.
Thanks, Tom

I use Rotella by Shell 15-40 purchased at Walmart, But Delo by Standard oil at Costco is just as good. Most of the truck lube and oil shops use Rotella so that is what I have always used. Plus I can find it at any Walmart while on the road if I need another gallon.
The water fuel separator filter is a Fleetguard 1065, but I can't find the secondary fuel filter number to save my life.

Check out this place for filters and parts. Here's the secondary fuel filter.....
RVChassisParts.com. Search for the filter you need.

I found the secondary fuel filter number FF 5636, but I am looking for the post that listed all of the filter numbers. It has disappeared from my bookmarks and the saved spreadsheet will not open for me.

I found the complete filter lists post. The credit for the spread sheet goes to Dave hogdriver for an excellent job. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/spre...ml#post1997346
I have printed it out and it will now go in my maintenance notebook.

NAPA can cross reference from the number that is stamped on the current belt.
