On my '15 if in Drive the tag only dumps while holding the switch. Dumps automatically when shift to Reverse and stays dumped until I change out of reverse.

On my 15 Anthem, the tag dumps only while you hold down the tag dump switch and as long as your speed is very slow. I have found that a wooden clothes pin pushed under the dump switch back corner works well to let you have two hands on the steering wheel for your difficult turn. Others have said a wooden golf tee works well also.

A tip I learned here: put a golf T under the tag switch when having to make tight maneuvers. The golf T also works to hold the battery boost switch down if needed. If the starting batteries are dead, that switch needs to me held down for sometimes 15 minutes. A golf T is now in my center console drawer.

Logically speaking it is confusing that the tag dump switch has to be held down when going forward.

Our Freightliner will dump the tag by pushing the rocker switch forward to dump and letting it return to Auto. It will remember the tag was dumped in forward until the ignition is turned off or the dump is cancelled by turning the switch to off and then back to Auto.

It would be practical if Spartan would be able to do something similar. Jamming something under the switch or having to hold it seems very inelegant.

"sauin'" really

The tag axle switch has three positions, off, auto and manual. In off it will air up and maintain ride height. In auto it will dump when the transmission is shifted to reverse. When holding the switch down in manual, it will dump going forward or reverse. When dumping prior to moving wait until the air has been released to get maximum benefit.

Our Freightliner has the 3 position switch as described.

In OFF the tag dump is off both forward and reverse.

If turned to AUTO the tag dumps in reverse but not in forward.

If the switch is moved to MANUAL position it will return to the auto position when released. It turns on the tag dump in forward and remains active. The tag dump in forward will now work anytime the speed is below 8 mph. Only two things will cancel the forward tag dump: 1) moving the tag dump to OFF 2) shutting off the ignition.

After moving the switch position to OFF you can move it to auto and the tag dump will work in reverse but not in forward.

If the tag dump is active in either forward or reverse we get an audible chime and a message appears in the instrument cluster saying "tag dumped".

IMO Spartan chassis should or could be made to work in the same manner.
