The "Entertainment" Center

I'm beginning to think that the entertainment in the entertainment center is figuring out how it is configured and how IT SHOULD be configured.

Could figure out why we couldn't get anything out of the DVD other than sound in the bedroom. DW finally dug into the mass of wires and confusing connections, and...surprise, surprise the video was never connected to the DVD player.

Now the interesting thing (similar to the two electric eye buds that connect the other devices to the electric eye on the front of the TV in the upper right that aren't always connected), she found a connected cable to the TV that ended in mid air in the area behind the TV. It was taped to the outside of the plastic, large cable run from the back of the TV and under the white clip to the side of the inside box. In that mode, it would not reach to the correct plug in on the DVD...hmmmmm. Of course, the satellite connection to the TV is in the HDMI/DVI socket.

So, I don't know who to point the finger at, not that it does any good. Now on to trying to figure out if the surround sound works with anything other than the DVD and if so, then how to make that work.

If it's any help - our surround sound didn't work on everything until we checked the way it was connected in the basement. Rick ended up on his back in a bay and finally found two plugs that were reversed after spending most of a day checking and double checking everything inside. Good luck!

If you don't mind, send me a PM on general location in the basement, and I'll give it a try. If that's the case with mine, it'll be the third or fourth thing that was reversed or not plugged in.

I also noticed that in the bedroom "box" there is a plug with a white electrical cover with nothing in it ( a modified USB type of plug with satellite on it). There is a similar male cable plugged into nothing in the same case. The way they set up the satellite, the HDMI/DVI works on the satellite and the HDMI setting works on the DVD.

Think I'm probably headed to a long discussion with a tech in May when I take the coach in for other things.

Has anyone asked for documentation (wiring diagram, etc.) that shows how things are supposed to be wired? This is one area I am very curious about too. We don't have our coach yet so I don't have an Entegra VIN/SN or I would ask myself.

I'm curious too if Entegra will be forthcoming with these sort of technical documents. Fleetwood is very good about this - a quick email with your VIN/FIN and in most cases a few hours later you have a PDF with the info specific to your year/model.

Might be worthwhile to take a cd and dvd with you. Check out the systems during your pdi.

And your MP3 player and a USB device if your unit supposedly has that capability. Also be sure to fully test the satellite system.
I have had 2 Jayco MHs and both were a total joke when it came to correct wiring of the AV devices. Multiple wiring mistakes were found.
Also call Jayco and get a wiring diagram of the AV system.
