Thedford Smart Drain

Greetings Entegra owners,

this question will more than likely apply to those who have the smart drain by Thedford installed ........now it is RV 102, I have already been through RV 101 with my prior motorhomes.

Ok here is what happened; 1st off, I don't put the smart drain hose out, I keep the gray closed. So I did laundry last night and the gray tank was up to 70% before I took a shower this morning, 1st time since taking delivery of the coach. Well I dumped the gray tank, about 5 mins later, I see water coming from an apparent drain line underneath. I Sent an email to Brobox with a picture of a weird drain.

I reached out to Chris for some advice......he said it may be coming from the gray tank. I thinking oh my I hope there isn't a broken water line.

As some know, the black and gray tank on at least my 2014 cornerstone is on the passenger side, so I opened the bay door and noticed that water was pooling on the edge where the door gasket is. I took the panels off, yep I believe it had happened before, the screws were rusted.

After I removed the panels, I saw the smart drain connection, water was leaking from the connection, went to get my neighbor for some muscle, he took a look and said it can't be tightened. So I had him disconnect the connection, the rest of the water came out, it was rather disgusting underneath, apparently the gasket dried out and when I dumped the gray tank at 70% full, it was too much for the connection to handle the water.

I put the container underneath where it was leaking.

There has got to be a better way to update this entire system. You would think that as much as the coaches cost, a better system would be installed.

Oh I wiped down the disgusting floor of the picture you see.

Any ideas?

Oh I purchased the 15 ft hose by Thedford and the connection leaks when I attach the hose to the current system.

Thoughts please.

Your issue is more common than not. The issue may be as simple as the soft gasket on the connector being installed backwards, but it appears that most of these tend to leak after a few times of connecting and disconnecting the hose. Apparently the gasket takes a set once it is compressed in that quick connector, and does not fully seal after a few uses.

Suzzanne, I have to apologize, I know nothing about the drain system on the 14 Cornerstone. Mine was an Anthem with an entirely different drain system. The gray tank over flow on mine was to back up in the shower.

The photo you sent me looked like the fresh water tank drain on the Anthem located in front of the rear tire on the passenger side.

The drain system on the 14 Cornerstone is unusual that not many had experience with. Hopefully someone that owned that year can help.

When (and if) you get it all figured out, please be sure to post a follow-up of what the solution was (when you find it) so we all learn something from your problems.

There were several that had the leak problem with that system. I know they ran a different drain hose, I believe a drain master but not sure. I know they had to do some cutting where the hose goes around the corner to get the new hose in. If you can search back about 5 years I believe “Dusty56” had a thread on how to modify the drain. I also think Dave Ladwik “DSL417” was involved in that modification.

Drainmasters has a 28ft hose, that would be ideal, I will see if I can find the post. In the mean time I put a toilet gasket that I trimmed a little, it did not stop the leak totally, but I thin it will hold up for now

I found the post and I just ordered the 28 ft drain master hose. I think I can do this myself.

Thank you for the input

Replacing the sewer hose

Good morning,

I purchased the 28 ft drainmaster hose, I searched for the female camlock, there are numerous sizes. The one in the post looks to be 3 iniches.

I sent a pm to Dusty56, but have yet to receive a reply.
Based on his post, those are the only two items I need in order to replace the smart drain hose.

Thanks

Suzzanne
