This is cool!

A few years ago I saw a ferry in Michigan for sale and told my wife that I thought it would be cool to tour the rivers of our great county while also having the luxury of our RV. She wasn't too thrilled with the idea.

Last night I found this:

Amphibious RV - Recreational Vehicles - RollerBoat

I think this would be a blast but my wife still questions my sanity. At least she could see that there were other great minds out there

Cool

Certainly different. I don't know if I'd want to trust this kind of system in choppy/wavy water however.

I'd have to get a parrot to sit on my dash.

At least with one of these the roads would be smoother, you could stop without looking for a rest area and no toll roads.

Ditto. Also, the thought of trying to dock it in a current or crosswind is terrifying. But is a cool concept.

They would have to incorporate some electric bow and stern thrusters to help control the docking

They made a boat for the motor homes, maybe someone can come up with a submarine to haul them too!

I thought the same thing watching the video, however it is still neat and almost worth becoming self insured.

I now can see why insurance companies are dropping full replacement coverage.

Having owned a pretty good sized sailboat, I can assure you that there is more to docking and maneuvering this baby than meets the eye. Others have said a bow and stern-thruster would be mandatory, and even a moderate breeze would make this simple operation of docking at a boat ramp a white knuckle experience. And I guess that you can trailer it behind the motorhome when you are on regular pavement?

Cute idea for a very calm day on a body of water that does not permit boats to leave any wake more than a few inches and you own property on the lake and have your own ramp......

Your wife is the person that you need to be paying attention to at this point.....

Gary
