TPMS Issue

Our inside dually's have extensions on them. I know that can be problematic but fine so far.

Today I went to add a little air and discovered that the Flo-Thru sensors had worn on the wheel pretty badly. Apparently at speed the forces move the sensors outward until they touch the wheel.

I talked to TST and they suggested that most coaches have a grommet that holds the extension in place. The rep was able to talk about his own experience. (Apparently he uses what they sell - what a concept.)

Another owner said his came with one from the factory (Not Entegra)

Thoughts? Did I not get something I should have? Should I have added on when I put the sensors on? Where can I get such a grommet/

TIA

Here you go Emerson:

https://www.shinyrv.com/product-category/valve-stem-extension-stabilizers

All you have to do is figure out which stabilizers fit your wheels. Good luck!

Yep... I had too put those same grommets on my Alcoa's for the same reason. I have them on both the inner and outer dually valve stems. The grommets keep the stems stable with the TPMS sensors mounted on the ends.

And what size holes? 1.5" 2.0" or something else?

You can also put the sensors on the wheel valve then put the extensions on the sensors. The sensors will still work and the flow-through will still happen, but now you've got the extra weight down low instead of out at the end of the extended valve.

I just called Alcoa with my wheel style and the knew what I needed. Mine were on the Travel Supreme as they did not use the greatest valve stems.

Emerson, I had the same issue with my flow throughs on the inside duals. I went a different route and installed a standard non-flow through sensor without the theft protection device so it weighs almost nothing. So far so good. However, I plan to call Alcoa and purchase the grommets also. Thanks for posting the question.
