Trailer brake controller

Has anyone here installed a trailer brake controller? I see that our coaches come pre-wired but without a controller. Joyce sent me a picture of the area behind the dash gauges where the wire/wires for the trailer brakes are. I can't see in the picture if there is a connector on the end of the wire/wires or if it is only the wires and I will have to splice a controller in. I was going to order the Prodigy P2 and they offer it with connectors for Ford, Chevy, Dodge and others. They also offer it without a connector on the end. If the Entegra's have a connector I need to know what connector it is?

Buffalo RV installed a Primus IQ Brake Controller in my 2014 44U.

You can call CS at Buffalo RV to get some specifics on the install.

Joyce told me it has to be spliced in. No problem. I wanted to know what type connector if it had one. Since it does not I will just get the one without.

The brakes are so good on the Aspire I did not even notice not having trailer brakes. It's only a 16' Sloan Rollback with a 2002 Mustang on it so it's not really heavy. The brakes are ten times better on the Entegra than the Beaver's were. In the Beaver you could not stop in a hurry without the exhaust brake and you could not leave the exhaust brake on or the cruse control did not engage.

Bullhead I was reading this thread and saw your photo, What a beautiful Coach and the photo with the leaves changing and the reflection in the water complements it further. Enjoy!

There are many different braking systems and all use different connectors at the towed end. (When it comes to towing cars) when Towing trailers, they all use much the same connector.

The motor home is wired assumign you will tow a car, the wire may not be big enough for electric brakes al-la the Prodigy series.. Though they are excellent controllers. I know of now towed car system that is compatable with them

For this reason, they put in the wire, but not the connector

I'd put in a fairly heavy wire if I were towing a trailer with a Prodigy or other trailer brake cvontroller. Like 10ga or so., (NOTE: 10ga is a guess. I'd find out how much current the line is hauling, Find out what size wire is needed and go at least one size larger)
