Under-dash modification..
While I was under the steering wheel getting to the miserable grease zerks hidden under the boot, I decided to make some room for my left foot under the dash!
Removed that little L shaped panel by your left foot, tore off the shorter of the two pieces that are stapled together, zip tyed the wiring up out of the way and replaced the larger of the two panels at an angle. Then moved the diagnostic port up a little so as not to catch my foot and still make it easy for the service techs to access. Now I can move my foot forward another 8 to 10 inches making it more enjoyable to drive, especially with my bad back!

Somewhere in the mega modifications thread, someone did this. However, in their case, when they removed the shield, the tile behind id was cut, showing underfloor. I'm glad that your isn't - I think I may open mine up someday and see if that is the case.

I tried that mod and I had no tile behind mine as well. I put it back because it looked so bad on the floor. Nice they finished tiling the floor up front.

I had a round heating duct louver in mine. I did cut it down and move it a bit so that I can get my left foot beneath it. I also mounted my SmarTire TPMS module on it.

How hard is it to add floor tile? As far as I know our coaches all came with spare tiles.

Just one of those things I never think to do when I am home.

Great Post and idea. I'd really like to remove mine as well. I find myself trying to find a place to put my left foot an entire trip. Not very comfortable.

I did something similar by cutting about 4" off the width of the L shaped piece. Lots of room for the left foot now.

Nice to see options for that area. Believe it or not, this has been a major issue when comparing coaches to buy. I am 6'4 and need the leg room. Now if I could get the "vaulted" rear bathroom ceiling like the Newmar, I'd be in heaven.

Keep in mind that the vault is in the middle and tapers off at the sides. It won't help you in the shower. On the New Aire there was no rear bath so the vault was in the bedroom where the ceiling fan was. That was nice. I smacked my knuckles on my ceiling fan twice peeling off a tee shirt and one time the shirt went flying across the room. I've learned to duck now or take my shirt off someplace else.
