Unpleasant welcome to Houston

Stopped in Houston to visit some relatives over the weekend. For those of you who don't follow the weather too closely, Houston was hit with a monster front that dumped nearly 20 inches of rain in one day! Also had a quarter sized hailstorm during event. Coach survived pretty well, Ford Explorer - not so much.
We have hail damage to the roof, hood, doors, and quarterpanels. We will see how good Geico is. Glass all survived fortunately.

One good thing. Despite unbelievable rains, coach remained dry as a bone inside. Water coming off roof and p/s slide topper was a waterfall next to door. During the hailstorm, we didn't quite qualify as "the quietest coach in the industry"

We have been following the flooding in Houston......terrible. Sorry you were caught in that mess. Have you been able to do a roof inspection on the Entegra yet? I sure hope everything up there is OK. It is unbelievable the amount of damage hail can do.

Good advice. Have a close look at the covers on the A/C units ... they are rather fragile. We left Houston early Thursday for Austin and managed to squeeze between the rain bands. Very lucky !! About 4 hours later US 71 was flooded (between Houston and Austin).

Glad the damage wasn't worse. A little off topic...did you happen to stop at that quirky little campground called Saddleback Mountain about 40 mi west of Ft. Stockton? I gave Janet the info when we saw you in FL.

We are heading to San Antonio today and will there for 4 days. We plan on heading towards Fort Stockton and then towards Carlsbad and Roswell. Haven't settled on campgrounds after San Antonio. I visiting, River Walk RV Resort today.

Crippsfi, we traveled South from Roswell down to interstate 20 on highway 285 last year. Part of that road was terrible. Road was littered with potholes from large trucks working in the area. Worst Road I've ever been on in the coach. May have changed by now but I would look into it. Safe travles.

Pulled into River Walk RV park in San Antonio. Should have immediately turned around and found a new location. Sites are grass with very little gravel. Pulled coach into site and promptly got stuck. Took about 20 minutes to find enough gravel to give me enough traction to get out. A mess. To the credit of the park owners, they immediately refunded our money without argument.

Moved down the street to the KOA. Folks here were very accommodating and found us full hookup pull through.

Nobody said it wouldn't en adventure!

We came from Houston last Thursday morning and went for high ground outside of Austin at Lake Travis. Heading toward San Angelo tomorrow.

Ralph, have you had a chance to inspect the roof area yet? Curious to hear how everything up there survived the hail. I see more weather is moving that way.

I carry a roll of Eternabond for roof emergency, I am really hoping you tell me I won't need it.

Raining here in Austin but should be gone in an hour. Predicted rainfall about 1/2". It's clear in San Angelo. I also carry Eternabond ... pretty handy for lots of things.

We're in San Antonio and experienced large hail (50 cent piece size) and heavy rain. The hail sounded much bigger when hitting the coach roof. The coach remained dry inside. After carefully inspecting the roof, there was no damage I could find. Our Jeep has 3 large dimples in the hood. Looks like someone took a ball peen hammer to it.

Dallas area hasn't been any better. My jeep goes to the shop Monday for hail damage. Coach was in storage thank goodness. I just got a eye opener on Texas insurance rate adjustments across the board. My coach rates went up ~$500 with Allied shop around and they still were the best value.

Allied tried to double our rates her in WA. Went with The Hartford through AARP, saved about $1800!

Unpleasant welcome to Houston

Hartford would not insure our Cornerstone. Said they had a hard limit of $350k value and thus would not insure it. We had our Anthem insured with them but when we traded we had to find a different company. It was with AARP also.
