Using 2016 CS chassis battery to jump start tow
Has anyone jump started their tow using your chassis batteries? If so, how? I've just ordered 25' jumper cables so the distance from the batteries to the tow battery will not be a problem.
Thanks,
Larry

Yep, really easy. Open the back passenger side door, jumper posts in there to hook to, red hot and black negative. Works great, don't ask how I know.......but I DO know!😡

Works fine. You only need to connect to one battery.
To save space, I now use a small charger (Walmart) that fit's under the seat of my toad and plugs into the engine heater plug on the Entegra. I don't even need and extension cord.

Sure, jump away. I carry a automotive battery charger, a jump start box, as well as Good jumper cables. Batteries are our lifelines.

Consider buying a small battery charger and a 50' extension cord. A flat Honda battery after several long day of towing resulted in a low battery, and I applied the charger (mine is a Schmacher computerized charger from WalMart). Put on the charger and let run a couple of hours powered by the inverters and starts right up. About $50

I would think
Larry,
First, no problem jump starting from the coach. However, you need to get your vehicle within that 25 foot position to reach with the cables. I would also think that 25 foot cables sound a bit long for jump starting and would hope that their wire gauge is fairly hefty.
With that said, I would think that a quality set of jumper cables would come close to the cost of one of the jump start boxes. With the jump start box you can do more than jump your battery and can also help out a fellow camper if they have a dead battery.
Just my .02.

Can you jump the toad from the posts that are under the drivers seat? This is where you can jump stat the Gen set if batteries are all dead, right? Can you jump a toad from here?

I did it from the chassis batteries while the toad was hooked up to the coach. I carry 25' jumper cables (because I never can seem to pull up to the proper side of a vehicle when I am "jumping").

Why not just install a charge line like this one?
TOAD-CHARGE Dinghy Vehicle Battery Charger/Maintainer
It solved my dead Toad battery problem.

Per our Spartan Academy class this week, the two posts in the compartment under the drivers seat are not meant for jumping anything. They are provided as a busbar so Entegra can connect their electrical systems.

Or, just connect the 12 volt wire that is already inside the 7 blade trailer connector receptacle at the back of the coach through your umbilical cord to the positive post of the towed battery. That wire is already hot, fused and regulated by the chassis electrical system and will charge/maintain the towed vehicle battery in conjunction with the coach chassis batteries. Can't get any simpler then that!

Would sure like to get some ground truth this subject. PJ briefed the same thing this week during his class at Entegra. How many others dealer techs explained that this was specifically for the purpose of jumping vehicles?
I liked the concept!
