A nice bonus to the onboard system is the air is clean and dry.

You can install a dryer after the Viair.

I hate running a 650hp ISX to air up tires.

I’m also looking at the VIAIR 450P-RV and talked with a representative who advised that it should work fine for airing tires up to 42” in diameter. I’m debating between this and the SMC air doubler.

Both are good systems and I debated as well. I am one that does not like to unpack something and set it up each time to use it. I like "plug and play" so the air doubler, one time hookup made sense. The second factor for me was the speed to air up the tires.

If I had decided on the Viair I would have mounted it on a basement wall shelf and wired it to be "plug and play.

Blown Hose

I guess I should have gotten the 450 model instead of the 400. While helping a lady air up her coach tires before heading home to New York I ended up blowing a hose off the coupling. I was nearing 120psi when it happened. The compressor was pretty hot so I think the hose got warm and then blew. I ended up getting a new hose from viair but before it got here I just went and got a new fitting and hose clamp to fix the old hose.
