Wait to start light
Since this is my first experience with Entegra and the ISX, I might not know as much as I should but here goes:
In the center part of the dash read out there is no "wait to start" light when the key is turned prior to starting. The area there is blank. Instead, and regardless of the outside temperature, I get an engine MIL light that goes out when the engine is started.
My coach is a 2018 Cornerstone with the 605 ISX and the chassis manual that was sent to me indicates that there should be that "wait to start".
What am I missing?

Wait to start light
On my 600hp Cummins coach it is the “check engine” symbol that illuminates. When it goes out, I start engine

That “wait to start” is the glow plug pre heat to provide heat to help the diesel start. In cold weather it is not good to start without glow plug preheat. When glow plugs are warm and light turns off you can then start. If you are not seeing this light, you should call Spartan or Cummins.

I wait for both Wait to Start and Check Engine light to go out. The Check Engine light will stay on after starting if I don’t wait......
Just a small quirk, but worthwhile in long run.

These engines don't have glow plugs according the instructor Big Mike from Spartan. The "wait" is for the inlet heaters for the intake air.

There is no inlet grid heater or glow plugs on the ISX engine.
No heaters so no wait to start light.
Just turn the key to start.

I stand corrected. I assumed they had glow plugs because every other diesel I have owned has. That is good to know.

When you first turn the key, press and hold the brake and hear the 4-6 pop offs ... by then the "wait to start" light will be off ... then actually start the engine. Best advice is to go to the Spartan school when you can, you will learn a lot!

There aren't "heaters" - but that wait to start light is there for a reason. Yes, wait until it turns off before starting the engine. Spartan says to wait - so, wait the 30 seconds to actually turn on the engine.

Lynn is correct, Here is what I read in the owners manual. There are 16 DEF sensors that have to talk to each other before starting. Interrupt the communication and a DEF error message with CEL can come up that has to be cleaned by Cummins.
On the 450 it was the CEL, and the 1081 code that could go away in a couple of starts, or like mine last 1,000 miles. It also took a reprogramming from Cummins to finally stop all the bogus 1081 codes.
The 450 took 35 seconds for the check engine light to go off, the 605 take less than 20 second. The "wait to start light" goes off instantly, if I even see it. But do wait for the amber engine light to go off before starting.
Non Entegra owners mean well, but the K3 chassis might be wired much different than they are use to. BTW I was told there is a DEF heater in the cross over tube for the DEF fill on both sides.

FYI what you are hearing is the ABS system performing its self check. You should hear a click for each ABS wheel position.

No glow plugs in an ISX, they use a heater grid in the intake which us why you can't use starting fluid anymore.

You are absolutely correct! Goes to show, if you read these threads on your phone, some things are missed. Sorry .... but, probably, since he has a Cornerstone, as Chuck said, the wait to start light is so fast, that it never really even comes up! Again, I apologize for reading the first post wrong.
